What's the going price to chamber a barrel and install in action.I have my reamer and headspace gauges ,just don't have the means to do the work myself.

No offense, but that's like asking how much does a car cost. Pricing is all over the place.
To me, and this is just my personal opinion, if a gunsmith isn't charging right around $400 for the barrel chambering and installation onto your action, then he's not charging enough. Considering all the responsibilities involved with actually acquiring the action, doing the work, dealing with the responsibility of keeping the customer's property safe and secure and checked in per the ATF, and then shipping it back out, it's about $300 for the labor and about $100 for handling. In my opinion.
There may be people who are gunsmithing as a hobby on the side and are willing to lose money, but if a guy's doing it for a living that would be the minimum I would consider in today's economy. After all, prices at the local grocery store in my area have doubled on many items for the everyday shopper since COVID.
I think David Tubb sells his Schneider barrels for his ATR for something like $1,200. The last time I was at his shop he had about 20 sitting there ready to be shipped out. So, it appears that that is what people are paying for ATR barrels. And he doesn't even have to receive a rifle to do that.
People are selling premiumshouldered prefits starting at $600. And that's where they start most people are closer to $800. The nut prefit market is being held at an artificially low price because Shilen and Criterion haven't changed their prices significantly in something like 20 years.
I'm sure you'll find somebody that I will do it for you for less money than the actual pro rate.

The labor rate at my local Firestone service center is $150 an hour.

No, but the last time I had a fuel pump replaced it was some kid working on my truck. I would say that guys who are chambering and installing barrels are worth the same labor rate as the guy at Firestone who's probably in high school.

I already have a local smith in mind but was just trying to see if his price was in the ballpark. By the way 400.00 was his price.

Most Guy's I deal with for Target Rifle charge the same with or without my Reamer.
