As a kid, what gun did you dream of owning?

Fusil Automatique Leger. Never owned one. Never held one. Probably won't. But I remember wanting one real bad.

I had an uncle into high end air rifles and he had the first Beeman break barrel I ever personally saw. I was mesmorized as a kid.
It wasn't a Beeman back then but I coveted a Sheridan bluestreak 5mm like the kid on a Christmas story wanted a red ryder. I walked beans all summer to get enough money to buy one and dad had to buy the pellets. I wore that poor gun out and also bought a silverstreak some years later in my teens that I also wore out. I still remember opening the box on that first bluestreak and it had a cosmoline smell that was very unique.
Since then I have owned every manner of top end break barrel springer, gas ram and PCP air rifles. I liked them all and it takes me back to my youth.
Down to a custom Beeman R9 now and do not shoot it at all.

I loved those fancy Weatherby Mark Vs in the advertisements in the gun magazines in the 70s & 80s.
I've managed to have a few come and go.

My first Hi-power was a Savage 110 243 W. That rifle wouldn’t stay on a pie plate at 50 yards. Bravermans’ in Wilkinsburg had a Sako L-579 Deluxe 243 that I had to have. I delivered newspapers and worked Saturdays with my father to pay for it. I hunted deer and groundhogs with that rifle with a Redfield 2x7 scope on it. I shot my first deer with it and many more. I finally retired it when I could afford a L-579 standard grade 243 to replace it. I found that I was too distracted from hunting, worrying about protecting that Deluxe.

When I was 12, (1962), I shot a Doctors` Winc. 101 at a trap range. I wanted one bad. It only took me 30 years to get one. Slightly used,but the dream came true.

My first was an Ithaca 37 12 ga in high school after I passed my NRA hunter safety course. Next was a Ruger 44 mag carbine in college. Then a nice SW M36 for $110. Still have the Ithaca.

300 Weatherby Mark 5 in that shiny wood stock that Roy put in all the gun magazines. Some bank advertised if you gave them like 2000-3000 dollars for 5 years you could get the rifle in lieu of interest… just didn’t have the money as a 10 Y/O kid!! unfortunately still don’t for that purpose so never owned the big 300 !!
