Remington Leaves NY

I definitely understand wanting to defend Remington I still consider the name a stable in mass produced rifles. But if you seen the quality of machining I’m talking about you wouldn’t be buying any of there so called new rifles since they have warehouses full of parts waiting to be slapped together from the pre bankruptcy days. I’m just saying there’s a few other companies that are putting out some nice competition.

I grew up in Williamsville, NY and left the area over 20 years ago for free states. No work in upstate NY like there was in the 70s. I was just back from Clarence, NY for a funeral over Thanksgiving. Can't even get a bag in the grocery store now. Ridiculous!

Cigarettes got the entire one side of my family. Not shedding tears about the high prices keeping kids from starting.
I wasnt trying say smoking is good for you which it is not however we used to have freedom and now big brother has to price stuff so nobody uses it which is not freedom of choice.

Before the disease called Benchrest I started going pd shooting. Had a couple Rem 700s built by Dan Dowling including truing the actions in the late 80's with Hart bbls. A couple more in the early 90's. I was all about accuracy so some were tight neck chambers. I turned thousands of pieces of brass with a k&m ect..wow.....shot good but never BR kind of accuracy. Not sure when they went downhill but thinkin Savage started taking a lot of their market.

Rebarrelled and they still shoot.

Remington had seen my last $$ years ago.
I bought one of, the very LAST Rem 700's, SS, Lefty actions from, Bruno's in Az., during the early Covid / Trump era, BEFORE they closed the Doors, when he sent me, a $2,000 check and I gladly helped, the Economy !
The Action I have, is, a nice, smooth and Concise, C n C'd action. ( tho, slightly out of Time, Bolt )
I just did, a little lite, Bolt lap on lugs, Glass bedded, in an H-S precision stock, added / headspaced, a Criterion 6XC Barrel and, a Jewell Trigger plus, a 6.5 x 20 x Burris scope,.. ALL for, $2,100 and it is, always sub 1/2 moa & down into, the 2's. I have a 1981 Model 700 in .22-250 that's a Tack driver, too But doubt IF, I'll ever buy another Remington, as TIKKA's are, the "EASY Button" for, accuracy without, the costly added, Gunsmithing Mod's.

One thing most people don't take into consideration is that even Benchrest actions are all just a kit. The friend that told me that always wore a funny hat at matches....

Ten years ago, I wanted another rifle. Being a true Remington man all of my life, I bought a Savage because of what everyone was saying about Remington. Bought three more. Was like when I bought my first Honda.Being a true Chevy person. Sad.:(:(

Having corrected more than a few Savage's, I can say that Remington hasn't cornered the market on that issue.;)
I should have stated more emphatically that “the one I saw”. I’m not in the business of repairing anything except what I own. I’m sure you’ve seen your fair share. I saw one, and that was enough for me. For me this is all a hobby.

The last 700 I bought was an sps Varmint in 308 Around 14 years ago. After I shot it I threw the X mark trigger and stock in the trash. Changed out the striker, spring, and bolt shroud for Gre-tan parts and removed the bottom metal and added a Wyatt's box.. It never did feed right before that plus I needed a little extra room. I had to lap the lugs because 1 was just barely making contact. I added a B&C m40 stock then bedded the action. Then added a Geisslee Super 700 Trigger which is very good by the way. I am considering making a barrel change and going to a different caliber in a Remage setup.. Perhaps 6.5 Saum, 260 Ackley or 300 WSM or possible 308 again. That would leave the action and bolt as the only parts left from the original rifle and I need to add a different bolt handle and would possibly have to open up the bolt face. To be fair the rifle now shoots .65 moa fairly consistently. But, I would have been much better off just buying a custom action and building. Which is what I did for my next project with a Remage barrel and it shoots better than I can.
I like a Remington 700 footprint for building, but I doubt I ever buy a complete Remington rifle again unless they really turn their program around.

@ Turpetine,..
My 3-4 year old, New pre- BK Rem action, was made nicely, as a CnC machine can do, ( all concentric and Square ) except, it needs, Bolt Timing as it's off, a bit. It didn't come with, a Trigger or guard so I knew that, I had to buy them. Yes, I agree, I'll Buy, a Custom action next time, too or, a complete Tikka Rifle and, Modify it.
You might look at, going with, a Criterion Barrel, a CrownRidge bbl Nut and, the RemAge system, like I did for, your action, as they are, NICE, barrels and, an easy barrel swap, when shot out.
Good Luck !

That is what I actually did for my last project. I bought a new Mack Brothers action and Triggertech trigger.. Then put a Criterion barrel in 6.5-06 and Remage nut on it from Northland Shooters Supply and put it all in an Oryx chassis. I've been very satisfied with it and like you said, swapping out a barrel for it is quick and easy.
I'll likely do the same with the Remington action I described in my post.

were the hell does the house come off kicking an elected official out? They heard he was a crook? They are all crooks.

Both houses of Congress have full authority to craft their own rules of operation, membership, expulsion. Per the U.S. Constitution, in Article I, Section 5, Clause 2:

Each House may determine the Rules of its Proceedings, punish its Members for disorderly Behavior, and, with the Concurrence of two-thirds, expel a Member.

The Congressional Research Service has summarized the rules for proceedings, expulsions in the following document. See esp. pp3-9:

And what about the people who live in NY?
Fuck’em?
See what happens with ‘executive orders?’ It’s dictatorship. See this guy Santos? Could be he’s a shitbag, but were the hell does the house come off kicking an elected official out? They heard he was a crook?
They are all crooks.
Everything rosie in your state? When did the feds last help you? Your state helping you?
I look at every house dem and their voting record and their record is treasonous. Santos, at least didn't betray what is supposed to be a free country with his votes. Even the new speaker thought this was a fight worth fighting. Amazing.
