Gunsmith / Range near Huntsville, AL?

Hi, I'm fairly new to the state and am looking for a trusty gunsmith and a new range in the Huntsville / Madison area. I shot F-Class when I was out West. Now it's looking like I'll have to make the switch to PRS and other midrange types of competition (I know PRS can be long too).
The point is, I'm looking for a smith that I can trust on competition-level gear and find a nice range where shooters can shoot reasonably long distances without RSO's calling the range cold every two minutes so the 9mm guys can pass. Apologies if I seem grumpy, just have belonged to some really bad and really good ranges in the past.

Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks!

google it, your not far from a real nice CMP range, Talladaga. What only out west do they shoot "long Range"? you have a few 1000 yard near you and there is a 1500 north of BHAM and north of you in Tennessee there are several, I think you might find us rednecks shoot more then the cowboys do. Welcome to Alabama

someone will chime in I'm sure , several very good gunsmiths up around you too.

I’m new to Alabama also. Vinemont. I can’t find any range that shoots F/tr 600 yard matches.
Any suggestions? Thanks in advance!

Cullman, AL sling shooter here.
Check out Midsouth Marksman website. They run 600yd and 1000yd matches on the Air Force base at Tullahoma, TN. River Bend gun club north of Atlanta has mid range matches. .
Memphis, TN mid range. Oak Ridge, TN 600 and 1000yds. Dead Zero north of Chattanooga 600 and 1000yds.

Snuggie, you should pm me. I have my own 1000yd range in Winston Co. 1 hour west of Cullman.

How is J Husky doing? We used to talk back in the snipers hide days and he started to come here but I haven't seen him in forever. Hope he is doing well.

I was in a similar situation when I moved to the HSV area from out west three years ago. Range-wise, I've settled on Strategic Edge up in Chapel Hill, TN. It's about an hour and twenty minutes from where I was in Harvest, goes out to 1,250 yds on the long range, has a good range timer/safety system with carts, and isn't too expensive. There are periodic competitive shoots out there, I think including F-class, but you can check out the calendar on the website to see if your game is there.

Smith-wise, Meredith Rifles is the only one I know about or have used locally, I was just having a barrel cut and threaded, but he had a lot of rifles and stocks in process when I went by, quality looked very good.

Ask around Northern Alabama about jug shooters. A friend used to use Greg Tannell to build a rifle very now and then back before he got so busy and wait times went into years. He told my friend that there is a group in N Alabama that shoots jugs from on ridge to the next and are very competitive. I want very much to at least watch this, its on my bucket list.

I would take a look at Randy Rachel of Rachel Precision hes very active in the PRS field and hes out of Canton MS. He keeps a lot of the popular PRS components in stock and you wouldnt have to wait. As for ranges you have K&M in Finger TN that is very popular and is a fantastic facility. Also theres Gunline in Jackson Mississippi that is a nice facility as well. Alabama Precision in Carbon Hill Alabama has a match almost every month but I do not think they have memberships to the public.
