For decent [Tikka] magazine length, check with these guys. You can buy pre fit barrels for a Tikka that don't require a nut. They are made that well. I prefer a Tikka over quite a few custom actions out there. Their smoothness and tight tolerances are fantastic. I really only have two complaints about a Tikka. One, I wish their magazines would allow for longer bullet seating and two, there are only a couple of options for stocks. That being said they are by far and away the best rifle off the shelf, out of the box there is. I spoke to a Tikka rep one time that told me a story about "Wednesday rifles" You know the rifles from other manufactures where the fit and finish is on point and the rifle shoots amazing because the employee was rested but not worn out, not depressed or hung over on a Monday, or had his mind on the weekend on a Friday. He told me everyday is Wednesday in Sweden. So far I haven't found a Tikka rifle yet that made a liar out of him.
The only problem is it's Wednesday in "Finland" Not Sweden! You can buy pre fit barrels for a Tikka that don't require a nut. They are made that well. Doh. Yep my bad.The only problem is it's Wednesday in "Finland" Not Sweden!
Although the "Swede's" Also make a fine rifle!
literally almost any gunsmith can make a shouldered prefit for a tikka. I’d look at urban rifleman depending on your caliber for a barrel nut prefit. If you’re looking to do one cheap, get a Wilson blank and send it to a smith.
Also, crown ridge barrels does barrel nut prefits for tikkas, and they are priced very well. They use shilen and Xcaliber blanks.
I sent a Wilson blank to A guy in Montana (fisher T&C) a couple years ago for a tikka in 300WSM. He did a fantastic job.
Edit: people I know of that do barrel nuts for tikka off the top of my head:
Bug holes
Preferred barrels
Crown ridge barrels
McGowan
Solid accuracy
Ragged hole barrels.
There are a ton more I’m sure.
I make a nut prefit for the Tikka.
