Tack Driver IV

Live Practice at Barts Custom Bullets, Jim Chaney shooting a group with 6BRA at 330 yards. Wind is 10 to 15 mph and very Switchy.

It’s the intensity and sincerity of the Ahhhhhh! Dammit! That makes me laugh!

They keep insisting on measuring all five.

Now would be an appropriate time to recite my poem……”

“Bozo At The Bench”

The shooters plight can be so heavy to bear
as we strive for perfection, as bullets fly through the air.
For that most aggravating occurance is without a doubt
when four shots go in, and one goes out.

Now my rifle was clean, and my load just right.
In goes the bolt, the first bullet takes flight.
There’s one, There’s two, There’s Three now FOUR!!
My gosh, the hole is no bigger than it was before.

The clock is ticking, but there is plenty of time.
One more shot, and this Match will be mine.
One more round, and all of these guys will see
I’ll be sitting in first, where I know I should be.

But what was that, in the corner of my eye,
did those flags all turn, as that last shot went by?
I’ll look down range, I know it will be fine,
Because I know I let it go, in just the nick of time.

But our best laid plans can take such wayward turns,
as the primer is struck, and the powder burns.
For there it is, such a big eye sore………

My little bitty “one”, is now A GREAT BIG “FOUR”:(

I finished all of the shaping and body work on this stock, it’s been a lot of glazing compound, priming and sanding. I still have to make a butt plate.

It is ready for a base color, but I am out of time. I will have to take it to the Tack Driver in primer.

I shot it Sunday, and it shot pretty darned good.IMG_2423.jpegIMG_2425.jpegIMG_2426.jpeg

All of the parts are new. Bat Neuvo drop port, Bartien gain twist 6mm barrel at 22.5 inches with my own tuner, Bix & Andy trigger, Nightforce 15x55 Competition Scope, my own .055 throat 6PPC chamber. I of course did all the work. I also made the trigger guard.

it is “screwed and glued”.

Not counting the stock and my time, this is a conglomeration of over $5000 dollars worth of parts.

I’m taking this Rifle and my Light Varmint.

Jackie,

Why paint it? It matches with your reloading presses.

What stock is that?

What stock is that?
Roy, a friend of mine in Tomball started using his 3d Printer to make some stocks.

He made this one for me as kind of an experiment. The material was a new material he tied, it made a great looking stock.

I initially had my big Bat M action in it.

The butt stock proved to be too limber. So I took the Bat M out and set it aside.

Then I got the idea to really stiffen up the back of the stock. So, I got some LocTite EA 9460 bearing mount epoxie and completely remolded the back of the stock with about a 1/4 inch layer.
I then sanded it to the shape I wanted and body worked it out to what it looks like now.

I rebedded it for the Neuvo drop port.

It tracks great. And it is now stiff as a 2 by 4.

It needs a tad more body work for aesthetic purposes, but I am so busy at our Shop, I am just going to go with it as is for the moment.

Thanks for the info! I have been contemplating 3D printing stocks also. Still in the planning stages....

Looks like really nice weather for the shoot, Bart must fall....
Roy Roy Roy,

I’m not threatening everyone but I am going to kick the HELL out of you, little Wayne Campbell, both Jeffs, "Thompson and Peinhardt," and that little pug-faced sidekick of Campbell's, "Andy Shifflett." But other than that, I’m just there for the party.

Roy, have you considered starting a GoFundMe page to see if they can remove your hyoid bone? Pretty sure that’s the one you keep choking on toward the end of matches.

Sincerely,
Bart
