I shot a PPC when I first started shooting SR Benchrest years ago. Eventually they stopped the local match, I got married, we had kids, you know, life happened. I couple years ago I decided I wanted a 10.5 lb. PPC to play around with.
I spoke to a couple friends of mine, Alex Wheeler and Roy Hunter, about the project and I started picking up the parts. I got lucky and found a spectacular piece of curly Redwood online for a whopping $80, a Hawk Hill LV blank, an aluminum trigger guard, a Peinhardt tuner and a Bix trigger. I have been thrilled with the drop port BAT B’s I use for LR Benchrest so I bought an action. It’s actually a DS which is a specialized B.
Alex went through the action and worked his magic, tuned the trigger, threaded and chambered the barrel, and mounted the tuner.
Roy was cutting up the block of Redwood, building the balsa core and then gluing everything back together with the carbon fiber panels for strength. He inletted the stock and finished the wood to the point where I’m almost afraid to touch it!
Today I was able to put everything together, lap the rings and mount the scope. The rifle is absolutely stunning and the indoor photos with my phone don’t catch the chatoyancy the wood has but it’s the best I could do.
I wanted to publicly thank @Alex Wheeler and @Roy H for the incredible rifle they created as a team.

Thanks again guys!!
Dave.
