A year ago I bought a Christianson Arms 28 Nosler. I bought Redding S-Type dies and ADG brass also. I loaded some Berger 168 VLDs and H-1000 and found great accuracy for a hunting load at only 3,050 fps. I drew a bull moose tag for Maine this year so I wanted to step up to Breger 180s. The 168s dropped deer DRT but no pass through and a dam mess inside so that's why I decided to go with the 180s.
Any recommendations on a starting charge for Retumbo? It seems like Retumbo would be prefered over H-1000 for heavier bullets. I am interested in accuracy then velocity FWIW.
Thanks

I only have VV555. But i have a good supply of H-1000, Retumbo, 7828 and H4831

Got a load of 78 grs of Retumbo with 180 Eldm for a friend worked up. Nice mild 3000 fps and 1/2” out of Fierce Titanium rifle.

The last 50-100 fps with these high BC bullets isn’t worth the rifle and brass wear and tear in my mind; especially when it drives tacks.

Good Luck and remember it’s a hunting load you re developing.

I strongly second this. It has been my policy for 70 years and has never failed me.

FWIW, here's the GW factory load. Disclaimer: It was pretty warm in my opinion/rifle, but shot very well.

My 28 Nosler likes IMR8133 and a Matrix 175 VLD, both of which are unvailable currently.

It also shoots a Hornady 166 ATIP quite well with Retumbo.
