Krazy Kloth Alternative - For case neck carbon

0000 is fast and easy. I use it at the range which is where I do most of my reloading. A couple of twists, and wipe off with a rag or paper towel. Easy peasy, almost no effort. I keep it in my kit in a small zip lock bag, sandwich size. It is really inexpensive. I have about 35 years experience with this method. It is very common. None of us chuck up our cases or use power. Strictly a fast, low effort hand operation. The trick is to do it right after firing. If you wait, the fouling hardens and is much more difficult to remove. I never leave the range with dirty case necks, because it is so much more work after the fouling hardens.
0000 steel wool use a small magnet to hold it on your loading box

Thought I'd add a pic of what I was getting after a few months using Krazy Kloth. I don't recall the length of time I was using it, nor how many firings while using it. If I had to guess, though, it would be probably about a dozen firings when these started showing up.

The 2 on the left had signs of gas leakage (since cleaned); the others only had signs of impending failure. Note the multiple cracks in the middle case (others had multiples but spread around the diameter of the neck, which is hard to photograph.)

Was it taking metal off or a chemical reaction?

Did you anneal?

I have a set of 30 br cases that are 10 years old and have been reloaded
60 times and cleaned with crazy cloth after every firing. Still perfect and
tight primer pockets. After I clean with crazy cloth, I immediately wipe off
with a hand towel. When I get home from the range, usually wipe with
alcohol on towel and anneal.

How can you explain the media removing carbon on the outside of the neck but not on the inside? The media moves throught the inside of the case just like it moves over the outside.
Can’t. I am too busy sorting primers.
As Nike says, just do it. You will see and then you explain it to me.

My humble opinion
I don’t believe you need to get the outside of the case necks spotless but I prefer to remove the carbon, I use either of these two methods
1. By hand using 91% rubbing alcohol on a paper towel. Removes carbon quickly, dries quickly, leaves no residue and doesn’t abrade the necks. Also very inexpensive and I don’t think rubbing alcohol is harmful.
2. By hand using Ballistol on a paper towel. Right after I wipe I size the case and the Ballistol also serves as a case lube. I always polish the inside of my new sizing dies to a mirror finish using Flitz. After polishing all you need for sizing lube is a very thin coat of Ballistol. Then into the corn cob tumbler for 15 min and the Ballistol is gone. Also very cheap and not harmful. A can of Ballistol used for this purpose will cast as long as a can of Imperial Die Wax. (I still use die wax for heavy case forming or neck expanding)
