The barrel is just under 21" from the front of the action, so that means it is 22".

Right! They aren’t found in this kind of condition much at all anymore, every 788 has made me smile on the bench. You could list it on gunbroker and let Remington and 788 nuts bid it up, I’d be surprised if it didn’t bring more than what your asking here.

+1 on the “nuts” statement.
I can remember when about the only way you could sell one of those was “buy one, get one free”.

The basic design does have some positives, but they tend to be out weighed by the negatives.

Hard bolt lift was a big one, followed by the handle coming off.

I speak from personal experience. Mine was one of the first models in 308.

however, several HBR shooters swore by the action as a base for a HBR Rifle. It seems once you got a majority of the nine locking lugs actually touching and the extraction problems solved, they were a pretty darned Accurate action.

I was simply hoping to sell it to one of the people here. I always enjoy dealing with people from accurate shooter, rarely do I have a bad experience. I do have a gun broker account that takes credit cards and I certainly could list it but I was just hoping that someone would want to give it a good home here.
