Krazy Kloth Alternative - For case neck carbon

I do believe in Captain Crunch.
Well I just cleaned the necks of the cases i fired today.. as I was reaching for my scotch Brite pads (grey and maroon) I saw my steel wool sitting there in my drawer in the shop.... looked a little closer and I realized when I had tried steel wool it was something that was even finer the 0000. I had bought it for woodworking purposes. Right next to that was some true 0000 wool. Tried that stuff and there is nearly no mess unlike the really fine wool.
I also tried the maroon pad, a little more aggressive than I would like. The grey worked great, but I have oodles of 0000 wool. So in the range bag goes a pad of 0000 wool.
Oh and for those keeping score at home. A pea sized dab of iosso on a shop paper towel did just as well. And rem 40-X Bore cleaner on a paper towel was pretty good and doesn't have the smell like most bore solvents.
Anyways lots of ways to slice it.... glad I'm not spending 10 bucks a pop for a kloth.

K&M makes one for neck turning which uses Lee shell holders. Most folks have the Lee shell holders on hand, and they are inexpensive when purchased individually. I think they also have a grip extender for tightening the shell holder in the tool.
While I have and use the Lee trimming shell holders, they are difficult to tighten without using some form of pliers. The holder is also specific to the case family. You'll end up purchasing the trimmer and the case holder separately. I think I saw where they came out with an improved gripper for the shell holder as well.

Ballistol has become my go to "stuff". Works great on stocks, metal, squirted inside my rimfire suppressor to make it clean easily, and I use it on my leather strop. Plus it washes off the hands easily. But I was really hooked on it when I read that during WWI the Germans used it internally for worms.
I broke down about 30 years ago and bought a Dillon Big Blue vibratory cleaner and use walnut shell media, after 30 years of wet tumbling. Never looked back. I shoot several time a week, walk in the door and dump the brass, in Big Blue, click, let her rip.
On real bad weather beaten black brass, that I need for one reason or another, I use Scotch Brite, they do make different grits of Scotch Brite. It will tune up ugly brass pretty good.
A couple hours in Big Blue while cleaning my guns and my brass is always clean, just like my guns, they too are always clean and ready for an outing.
As an aside, you can put up brass in a seal a meal plastic and the brass, loaded or empty stays bright and clean.

SJ,I gave up on steel wool many years ago, when I found slivers of it stuck to the bolt body, and all over several screwdrivers in the loading box. Seems the screwdrivers were slightly magnetized and collect a bunch of stay slivers!
A can of NEVR DULL will clean a LOT of case necks. You can spin each case in a wad by hand, or as other Posters have suggested, use a case-holder chucked into battery powered drill. One down side: your fingers WILL get dirty.
I use a 12v Ryobi and Lee case holder I bought a number of years ago. Wipe the cleaned cases with a cloth soaked with your favorite solvent like acetone, MEK, etc. Or rinse and dry outdoors with same.
If you buy the NEVR DULL on Amazon or eBay just one can is expensive, so try to buy a multiple like 3. Also the newer silver-colored cans are labeled, "Eagle One", but it is the same wadding material and polishing formula, as the older dark blue cans.

The smell of Krazy Kloth is horrible. And once you get it on your hands it takes several washing to get rid of the smell.
