I’m new to to the TC world. Just got my first contender last year and I’ve had fun with it, it’s a handy truck gun. I’m wanting to get a few more barrels for it and I don’t know much about what to avoid or seek as far as contender barrels. I know of Bullberry, MGM, SSK and Thompson. It’s seem there’s a lot of guys that know Contenders inside and out and have multiple barrels, I’d like to hear opinions on what barrels a guy should avoid or should chase. I’m looking for a 222, 6TCU and 7TCU barrels currently, I’m after the 222 first just because I have a pile of brass, bullets and the dies for that one. Thanks.

You really can’t go wrong with the three customs you’ve mentioned. I own all of them and think a 222 carbine or pistol will be a ton of fun. Great service from them all, for me it’s hard to even suggest one over the other my custom Contenders in pistol configuration rival some factory rifles. My factory 30 Herrett is very accurate and so much fun to shoot. If you want a factory rare caliber barrel check Ed’s in Oklahoma I also like dealing with Marty at Hausofarms too.Been thinking about a 22lr pistol barrel that’s threaded for suppressed pest control,Marty has em in stock.Lots of fun to be had with a Contender, prepare to go down a very deep rabbit hole sir ;)

Dropped you a PM.

Haunt the backwoods and out of the way shops...that is the only place that these barrels lanquish. Usually bottom shelf, covered in dust. The idea of a SINGLE Bullet, from a 1960's raygun looking pistol is anethema to the bang bang gang.

TC guys scour the websites for barrels.

Man you have GOT to have a 20 Caliber. Both of these have OTT barrels (In MY opinion the BEST). You have to look hard buy they can still be had on the secondary market. I also shoot Bullberry and SSK and they are good barrels as well. Top pistol has a 20 inch OTT 20 TAC and bottom one wears a 16 inch OTT step barrel in 20 Vartarg I shoot these two more than any others
You will enjoy Contenders

The Walnut stocks were made by Dave Dolin (Poppy Dave's Custom Creations on facebook) from an oak tree that my Dad cut when I was 12 (I am now 65). Dave made me 5 sets. Pictured below before finishing The laminate was made by Georgia Jim. Last time I talked to James he was having health issues and couldn't get to his shop. Second picture is Georgia Jim with the exception of Red one Dave Dolin and Bottom grip BullBerry.
Very Last Picture was Made by John Cook of Otter Grips. Sadly John is no longer with us. A master with the wood for sure.

I have TC barrels from Bullberry, TC, Bellm's, SSK, MGM. You won't go wrong with any one of those makers. Just check them out and compare prices, in the range you want to spend and calibers they provide.
