What’s the thing on your reloading bench that your 100% happy with
and what’s the thing on your bench if you had it to do over again you would have gone a different route

Bottom -

Howdy !

My 45+ y.o. Rock chucker. I was 127% happy with it.
It was stolen out of our storage unit, while we were prepping to move 3 states over.
Now I gotta get a replacement. Maybe this time.... a Super Rockchucker ?

As regards regrets..... got none. I'm still using a lot of the 1st Gen stuff I bought when I first started into reloading. I'm also rather fond of my old O'Haus " Dial-a-Grain " scale.

With regards,
357Mag

Wolf SRMs, CCI 450s and Br 4s, Mighty Armory decapping dies, 8208, Reloder 15, Varget, H4350, Nosler 77 and 80 gr CCs, Sierra 77 and 142 gr SMK and 77 gr TMKs. I'm just getting warmed up. There is so much good stuff out there, we are blessed, if it is in stock...

In all honesty, the two things that I am going to name are not on my bench, but above them. The first is a shelf with a built in bluetooth speaker. Pop a podcast on and get to reloading.
The second is the LED light strip that is attached to the bottom of that shelf. It lights up my bench nicely so I can accurately read the fine print in the loading manuals, on the bullet boxes, on the powder cans, and most importantly, makes it able to see that one primer that always tries to get away.

Stuff I love:
RCBS Jr press circa 1979
Redding Dies especially COMP seat dies
Redding T7
Redding powder measures
LED light in the turret of my Dillon 550
Thin shelves holding all my powder measures, small tools, etc on the wall behind my presses
Light...lots
White paint (so I can see the crap I drop, spill, lose)

Stuff I could do without or would not buy again
CONCENTRICITY Gauge
CONCENTRICITY Gauge :)
RCBS lube pad
RCBS case trimmer (Wilson and WFT far better)
Wet tumbler
Lyman Bore scope (Teslong better)

A couple that come close to 100% satisfied are My Coax press- it would be 100 if it wernt for the funky shell plate changing. The A&D fx120 scale with auto trickler is rite up there to. As far as most dissatisfied on my bench (4’x16’) its the Redding Ultra Mag Press. had it unbolted ready to sell but couldnt find a buyer so i bolted it back down. Id rather have a T7 any day (and i do) than the ultramag.

Grateful purchases-
AMP II annealer. (cried once).
K&M arbor press w/ force packs.

Regretful items-
None. Everything prior, served its purpose until upgraded.

Been a long run. 1964 built my first bench. 5 benches and houses later there are some items that have made these moves on each one. Every succeeding bench got bigger and better. ( long ways from the quality of some I’ve seen pics of on this site.)
The A-4 and the the 304 are still mounted and in use. The only thing I got rid of was a turret press whose purpose was to reload pistol ammo for a friend who never learned to reload beside my best efforts. With his passing so went the turret press. That left me with only 4 presses mounted!
Can’t say anything else is disliked or gone.

Dillon 550B- I've owned it for over 30 years, have loaded thousands of rounds, and had very few issues.

A few other honorable mentions-

Mighty Armory 223 mandrel sizing die. I shoot a lot of 223 and it has really improved consistency.

Forster Co-Ax has been a good press. I do agree that the shell plate changeover could be easier.

Bald Eagle primer seater- I never knew what I was missing until I made this purchase.

Headspace gauge for dial calipers. That really opened my eyes on a part of reloading that I needed to pay closer attention.

Best....Rock Chucker, A@D scale, Bob Green Comparators, Wilson Trimer, PMA Neck Turning Tool

Worst....Sinclair Concinticity tool, Sinclair neck turning Tool

+ Forster Co-Ax
- Dillon Square Deal B. note: I do like the SDB, but if I could do it over, I would have purchased a 550. So I could reload .223 and .30-06 for my AR and M-1 Garand as well as all my handgun ammo.

PC,
Funny, I feel just the opposite about the SDB and 550. I have a 550 and I find myself going years between changing over (loading 223 and 308 on it) but dreading farting about getting it set up for pistol. I wish I had bought a SDB or two back when they were affordable. Buy it and set it up, never fart about changing it. I am at that place where time isn't plentiful, patience is ebbing and I'd just as soon get it set up and have it ready (forever) when the urge or need strikes to load the flavor of the day. I went so far as to get a 9mm Lee 1000 rather than change over the Dillon.
