Randolph Rest Owners...Read Please

I sent these rough drawings to Randolph Rest on August 2nd. So far ,no reply. For the 1K crowd, look at the scketches and give feed back. I've owned em all and the Randolph is one of the best...but. It does get alittle tippy if you have a heavy 25# gun on the rest,I even have there bolt on lower plate. What it needs is a larger lower plate foot print. Check it out.I copied off another plate for a Sinclair that is no longer made.Flip it over for leftys,a speed screw could be put on if needed. Also a handhold for packing this sucker.thanks,Pete

I would also like to have a heavier plate that extends further back. I have seen a lead weight that mounts at the rear leg. I’m not sure who made it but I don’t think it was Randolph Machine. I thought I was ordering one but got the flat plate.

Hard to see in this pic but there's an orange 8# dumbbell in front of the rear screw and a gray 10# dumbbell between the right screw and the pedestal. Does wonders for it, much better than the rear plate I took off because of the raised height.

You can put the rest on the bench then weight it and take the weights off then pull the rest of the bench vs lifting it all.
Works for me.

You guys must really hammer that stop to need that much weight!
Not sure I need "that much weight" and normally I don't "hammer" it but occasionally I can get a little overzealous and bump the stop a little too hard, it's nice it stays put.

I'm also on the rest screw feet with the rubber / steel pad not pounding the points into the bench top with a mallet like some I've seen.

I saw a friends rest yesterday that is a quick fix. 2"wide by 4" long extensions off of front screws. Can swing them in or out,may be the cheap way to go.......

Randolph already makes a large baseplate for their rest. The large baseplate can be used alone or it can be bolted to the standard plate…doubling the thickness of the base.

I looked at their website and did not see any base options.

Unless I'm misunderstanding you I think this is the plate that makes it heavier and taller which many agree does not help stability.

Add on plate for Randolph, 1/2"thick and bolts onto the bottom. Screws pass through the corner holes not thread through.

This is the plate in my opinion does nothing but make it heavier and taller.

I'm working on a replacement bottom plate not an add on plate with a bigger footprint that does not increase overall height.

When I get it worked out I'll do a run of 10-20 and sell the excess.

The large plate is not listed on the website, you have to call them. I think they call it a f-class plate. It is expensive.

The large plate does improve stability when used alone, and the rest doesn’t want to tip forward like the standard plate. It does increase the rest height and adds significant weight if you combine the plates.

The plate is $100 plus shipping. Actually spoke with them last week about this very item when ordering my front rest.
