Are Sierra 52 gr MK’s a thing of the past?

I know that no one has a crystal ball, that can tell when they might be back, but has anyone seen these in recent days? I’m down to very few and cannot find them anywhere? Has anyone heard anything about them? I’ve searched the internet high and low for them, as well as all my LGS’s.

I have 1,000 Nosler Custom Competitions, if I have to switch, but I’d sure like to stay with the Sierra’s.

Just wondering.

They pop up on MidwayUSA from time to time. They don't last long though. Says they are over-due to appear in stock so i'd keep checking everyday ; )

Thanks Dan, I look every now and then, but I’ll be checking everyday.

When I first started loading for .223 for short range target, I began with the 52 MK. I thought it was great however, and long time seasoned benchrest aquaintance suggested I give Berger 52 FB and to be quite honest, I have not reverted back to the MKs. For my loading and my rifle, it liked the Berg FBs a bit more. Something you may want to investigate if you wish.

Blue Collar Reloading has the 53's in stock and had the 52's as I bought a box of 500 a few weeks ago but they are out right now.

I honestly like the 53's better but they can be a PITA with the FB for seating.

The 53 gr Flat Base match shoots great but as mentioned seating them takes a little finger guidance and a little more case mouth chamfer. Just be gentle seating them.

I think Sierra is a "thing of the past" when it comes to its reloading customers.

It's a shame because they make some of the best bullets in the world which I grew up on when I started reloading.

in two of my rifles, the 50 blitzkings shot equally as well as the 52 MKs....are they available?
Thanks, hoping that I might have found some 52’s, if it does not fall through. If so, I might look into the 50’s. Thanks

My LGS in Churubusco Indiana has 2 or more boxes of 500 of them. I don't know if they would ship them or not. Tomlinson's if you would like to contact them.

They been pretty good really on keeping some 69 SMK and the 6mm 107’s through all this mess.

I did some testing of the 55 SBK that may be relevant. The following is a copy of the summary from my test report. If you would like more details let me know. My application for this bullet is NRA XTC 100 yard reduced course competition where the goal it to hold the 0.75 inch X ring in prone slow fire at 100 yards.

Summary.

Since 2018, I have been using the 53 grain Sierra Match King (SMK) with the Sierra Manual Accuracy load of 23.5 grains of N 133 in a AR15 Match Rifle with a 1:8 twist, 20 inch barrel; built for NRA 100 yard reduced course High Power Rifle competition (see test report for the development of this load in Reference 1). However, as of 2021 the 53 SMK bullets have not been available, so the testing reported herein was conducted to determine the suitability of substituting the 52 Sierra Match King (SMK) or the 55 Sierra Blitz King (SBK) for this application since these bullets are currently available.

These tests shows that the 52 SMK bullet is not suitable as a direct substitute for the 53 SMK pet load and additional load development would be required to possibility achieve the 53 SMK accuracy with the 52 SMK for this application. However, the 55 grain SBK was found to be favorable for direct substitution in the 53 SMK pet load. Therefore the 55 SBK was chosen as a direct substitute for the 53 SMK for future use in competition.
