Berger 80.5. Jam or Jump

NC/Br Shooter

Silver $$ Contributor
I got a few these berger 80.5s. Iv heard good things about them. The one's I got measured super concistant. Length, weight, ojive to base.
I have a ladder loaded up. Powder charge.
Iv heard 20 jump is what these like. Iv made split neck cases and get super accurate jam measurement. Right now my ladder loaded up is at .015 into lands. So before I start I can reseat them to shorter .
Any and all opinions welcome
Thanks

Not trying to be corrective but I think you mean .015 into the lands. 15 thousandths.

I use .020 jump and get excellent results. .015 is a lot of jam and you can build a lot more pressure than a jump hence liniting your velocity some

You and several others are saying the same thing. I'll go to .020 jump. Then.
All of the tiny groups, like high .0s to mid .1s that I have shot have been at 5 off.

They shot “good” at 10 and 20 off but not as well as I’d expect. This was in 2 proofs, a brux and a Krieger. 22 creed, 22x47 and 22 dasher.

Iv not yet re seated these are got loaded up yet. But that right is a lot of evidence for seating. 3 bbls.
It's weird you mention that. Iv had some 6mm loads where 5 thou from jam was good.
Thanks

Consider doing your depth test first if it’s a cartridge that you’re familiar with and know a sure enough safe load.

I just take 21-24 rounds to the range along with my arbor and scoot them down until I’m happy then immediately repeat to verify.

Makes life easy.

Thanks, understood.

I shoot them out of a 223AI with a 27" 1-7 Bartlein 4 groove. They aren't hard to tune imo and are very consistent on target. I jump them but I'm pretty close at 10 thousandths. I shoot them @ 600 mostly.
