Need a 6ppc expert.... UPDATE

There is a match tomorrow and I have no ppc load. No time to test. If you were
going to load something to shoot without the ability to test, what would you load?
Here are the components I have:
Lapua brass
68 gr Barts Dominator
68 gr Barts Avenger
68 gr Barts Ulta
Powder
N130
N133
Lt30
LT32
8202
Any help appreciataed

Oh............brass has been fired a number of times and shot great with a
Barts 68 gr boattail but I am out of those.

I'm no expert either but I have at least 8 6PPC rifles that I toy with and shoot at matches once in a while. I also know a number of Hall of fame 6PPC shooters that I talk to. 29.7 to 30.5 of N133 with a good boattail bullet. Most groupers use 133 and most shoot BT bullets.

I don't shoot 6ppc but how about right in the middle 31.1.

Choose a bullet and seat to same cbto as your old load,same powder charge.

Just food for thought boattails will need just a tad more powder than a flatbase bullet.
29.7 n 133 is a good start and into the lans by .3 to 4 thousandths.

mild accurate load, Tom Dickson used one very close to this and we laughed at the over 31 crowd in high heat at the nationals one year in 40 mph winds

try it you will like it as a decent load that cannot get you into trouble

Can’t predict what will work in your chamber. In mine, a nice mild charge of 28.9 of N133 with a 66 grain boattail .010 into the lands is just about right.

I’d caution you against running a high powder charge right out of the box though. It will probably be fine but it would suck to get there only to realize you are having pressure and a sticky bolt.

I did read it. That’s why I suggested 28.9 of N133 in post #12. These guys that are telling you to shoot 29.7 and above with an unknown combination are not providing sound advice as far as I’m concerned.

It will probably be fine, but tomorrow would be a bad time to find out otherwise.

Yeah I’d take this powder recommendation, load a bunch long, and be reading to do a quick seating ladder on the spot.

And bring a four leaf clover and lucky rabbits foot too

The sighter is your friend. Use it to test 2 shots at that seating depth you mentioned with different powder charges. Guess somewhere in the middle for your record group. At least maybe you'll have something for the 2nd match. Or you may get lucky.

Is this a true custom rifle? BAT/Borden or the like? IF so then 28.7 LT32 with Barts Avengers will get you around 3375 FPS .009 jam

You have 3 choices. Rely on luck, put a tuner on tonight or load at the range. What you're asking for is not BR and is just hoping, at best. As jimmymac said, go with a mild to moderate load and hope for the best. There is NO way to predict what will or won't shoot well. You can stumble upon something though. It might be good, bad or more likely, somewhere in between. Best of luck!
