Issues with SEB NEO X F-Class Delrin bottom bag.

Ruger15151

F-Class Shooter (6BRA and WIN 284)
Hi Guys

I received my new NEO X about 2 weeks ago. I felt like it was Christmas Day! 14 months of waiting and it was finally here!

After shooting a few matches and maybe 300 rounds on it, I am having an issue with the rifle torquing in the front rest and then staying there. I have to work the rifle back and forth after every shot in order for it to drop back down so the bubble level on the scope is level again.

The bottom rest is packed tightly with heavy sand.

My first thought was to loosen the tension on the delrin side pieces. However, even placing a business card between the stock and delrin to set the tension doesn't make a difference.

I have a Cerus stock and I am using teflon tape on the bottom and sides of the stock. Previously, I was using a Trex with felt on the guides and didn't have this issue.

Maybe teflon on teflon doesn't work so well?

I have tried changing my position behind the rifle to see if that helps but it doesn't.

I would love to hear you thoughts and if you are experiencing the same issues.

I have my delrin sides as tight as possible, while still being able to slide the stock. My bottom bag is 90% full and I use teflon tape as well. If you are shooting a 6BRA or a 284, I think this approach would work for you as well.

I know this sounds like a stupid question .When you say "tight as possible" do you mean there is a lot of resistance moving the stock forward to the stop after a shot? Just trying to quantify because I know its a feel thing. How much does your rifle move with recoil?

BTW- Congratulations on your big win at the V2 Finale! Awesome shooting!

I use the "seat belt" bottom bag and put felt on the Delrin sides. Works much better for me.
I am going to try David C's suggestion first because the delrin should work. If not, I will try the felt pads over the delrin. The felt worked great on my Trex.

Were you having the same issue with just the Delrin? How much are you filling your bottom bag?

I bought the rest from Erik when he got a new one and the bag was filled fairly hard. You can indent it with a thumb but it's hard. The felt is self-adhesive stuff I got at a craft store.

Thank you-fun weekend in TN!

Yes, I have resistance while sliding back into battery. I have my shoulder as close to the rifle as possible without disturbing the reticle movement on target. I test this by getting into my shooting position while maintaining my hold, then slightly relax away from the stock to see if my reticle moves. If so, I am too close and have added pressure to the rifle somewhere.

So sorry to hear you are having problem with the NEO-X!
Thank you for letting me know the issue. From your description, please try to lock the top once it is aligned.

Still having issues with the rifle staying canted in the front rest.

I have tried aquarium gravel so that the front bag wouldn't pack so much but that didn't work. its about 90% filled with no pack. I have tried running the delron side plates loose and tight without success.

Has anyone else had this issue? Any suggestions would be helpful because I am focusing more on the front rest between shot than on wind calls.

@Ruger15151 - I am hoping you are not a national champion because if you are you will already know this:

The Cerus stocks have a lot of flex in them and are a 3-4" longer than other to tier stocks like an X-Ring--so even more pronounced flex. The great thing about them is that you know right away if your rifle is in tune. It slides straight back and does not torque out of the bags. If it is out of tune, the extra flex works against you and does what you are saying--torques in the bag and generally feels like hitting an aluminum bat on a concrete sidewalk.

I am still waiting for a Neo-X, so still using my trusty old Neo. My Cerus stocked 284 rifles used to get the leans from compacting the sand/gravel mix on one side of the original single piece bottom sandbag. Seb cured that with the two-piece seatbelt material bottom rest inserts.

Hope that helps a little...

Hank
