Why no AR Tactical at NRA MR HP Championship?

Anyone know the reason it's not included? Same targets, same course of fire.....makes sense to me. I know purists may not agree with it but why not include it and see if adds to the participation and generates some more interest in the shooting sports. It's kind of a bastardized category between pure HP and F-class but it's fun as heck to shoot when you want a break from the other categories. I could be wrong but it seems like a good gateway for youth involvement and it would then give it some credibility for more participation at the local level.

It's indefensible not to have this as the Championships. It was adopted as an official division. Time to give it the full treatment is deserves when it was supposedly legitimized.

Agree with everything above.

Have they explicitely said it will not be supported or just not advertised it?

Thanks! I missed the paragraph and only saw matches 800-804 for Any/scope, Any/irons, Palma and Service national championships. Glad to see they can at least compete for a daily agg.

I've searched the web and other posts here for answers with no luck. I'll ask here since the 2023 National Match Program calls out relative info.

Interested in shooting AR Tactical MR but want to completely understand the governing rules. I know that local MDs modify these to encourage participation but I'd prefer to build/compete according to the strictest version of the official rules. That way I should be gtg at any match.

1) I see in several places that sleds or modified mags for single round loading are prohibited. (Used a bob sled at 600 back in my XC days....) Does this mean that single round loading in AR Tactical is forbidden and rounds must be fired from a loaded magazine (like XC rapids)?

2) I've read Section 23 of the NRA HP Rulebook several times. In typical NRA fashion its a mix of very specific and vague rules, but: I could not see any changes to that section that call out the new for 2022 "MID Range AR Tactical OPEN Class (No restriction as to sights, legally manufactured suppressor authorized, no trigger or overall weight restriction)". That description and detail is found in the 2023 Nationals Program on page 55. I did find that there is a 3 year provisional allowing suppressors but nothing about the new Open division and the changes to any sights, trigger weight or overall weight restrictions. Am I missing something? (Probably......)

3) I know that most matches will not have a lot of AR Tactical shooters, but is it true that there are (or will be with this new Open division), separate divisions for those shooting 223/5.56 and everything else?

Thanks guys, just trying to stay within the real rules.

If the rules don't specifically prohibit single loading, then it's OK.

I'm not up to date on NRA rules for ar tactical rifles, but I've read in the last year that there is a weight limit [I think it was 14lb] and a limit of 15X on the scope.

Yes, I saw those limits in the rule book but now I see this quote from the 2023 Nationals program that calls out that "Open" division where those are no longer restrictions. Confusing......
