tikka varmint vs Super Varmint

The differences between the two appear to be the stock and a two stage trigger. The Super has a pic rail, but it is a 0 and I would prefer a -20.
Is the stock and trigger a $500 improvement?

I have never seen either in person .
I would appreciate opinions and comparisons. Thanks, Bat

Fluted bolt, cerakot finish over stainless barreled action, barrel is threaded also free floats to about an inch of the action

In addition to what Mark M said, I have owned both and currently own the SV in .223. You mentioned you want a 20 rail but not knowing what caliber you want, I can say that a 20 rail is not needed with a .223 with a good scope. If you plan on shooting 1000 yards with a .308 or 6.5, that may be helpful but again, get a good scope, sight in at 200 yards and the zero rail should be fine. The SV barrel is thicker and the overall gun is heavier. I put a trigger spring in mine and am happy with that upgrade. I like the stock and feel it is an upgrade over the Varmint model plus you get an adjustable cheek piece. The SV barrels are also threaded for a suppressor. The below target was shot on my 3rd range trip with perfect conditions. 5 shots @ 100 yards. 55 grain V-Max, Varget and CCI 400 primers.

Thank you gentlemen.
If I end up going Tikka, it will be a Super.
I am vacillating between Tikka and the Savage LRPV. Neither are currently available so I have some time to think.

^^^^^^^^ - What Mark M said.

That's where I got mine in the 223 T3x. Should be here in a couple of days.

Go with the Savage LRPV. It is a far better rifle. I have (5) of them. Factory barrels are excellent. Some of my Savage's with factory barrels shoot better the my custom rifles with Krieger, Bartlein, Lilja and Brux barrels. The stocks a H&S with aluminum bedding their target trigger is great.

Wise words.
That's what I did last week.
It's a 6BR

Have a Model 12 LRPV in .223, 1:7 twist. Enjoy it thoroughly, great fun shooting 500 yards at 4" and 5" aiming spots on steel. The gun is far better than the guy pulling the trigger!
