lanolin and alcohol for case lube

can spraying the cases and then shaking them up effect the primers if too much is used ? I spray them and let dry and then size them and put in new primer on a progressive press.

I doubt that would affect the primers, but why not tumble after resizing?
I'm not excited about leaving lanolin on the cases when they are fired.
Same thoughts here. The lanolin will tend to accumulate in places you don't want it. I can tell from experience, you don't want to fire cases that have any type of lube on them. I used Hobo oil a little too generously on a fluted bolt, and the result wasn't good.

Tumble... orrrr if just 50-100 pieces spray them down with 90%+ alcohol and wipe them with a rag after sizing. I've done that too works fine but I definitely wouldn't leave lube on the cases

I use this type of lube. I tumble after sizing.

If you are using a dillion progressive, you are probably doing a zillion cases at a time, so it's worth your while to tumble before priming. It only takes maybe 20-30 minutes to tumble the stuff off. Could be less, but I never get back to the tumbler in less time.

When I do 25 or or less cases, I just wipe the outsides and inside necks by hand with old cotton t-shirt remnants.

To answer your question specifically: it depends what you are doing after you prime.

After priming, If you are wiping/removing lube from the outsides of the case and inside the necks, you should be okay. I don't think much lube gets into the inside boiler room of the case. So there should not be a problem.

After priming, if you are tumbling, I would not do that. Especially with small media like corncob.

I always tumble the cases to clean them before sizing, I don't want that dirt in my sizing die.

I use Dillon's sizing lube (alcohol and lanolin) spray it on a batch of cases , lightly. Run my hands through the cases, jumble them around to spread the lube.

Then I size & deprime. This insures that those little pieces of corn cob get pushed out of the primer hole.
If not on my Dillon Progressive, I throw all the cases on a towel, and rub them around to remove the lube, then proceed to the rest of the reloading process.

If on the Dillon Progressive, I throw the loaded rounds on a towel to rub around and remove the lube.

For my accuracy rifle rounds, I tumble first, I lube each case with Imperial sizing wax, size and deprime in a single stage press, and then wipe off the lube with an old T-Shirt, then proceed to the next stages.

I just remembered.

Using all the stations on a dillon, you would resize first, then prime on the upstroke, then charge with powder and seat a bullet.
This leaves you with a loaded round with whatever lube was used to resize. I guess any/all progressives appear to suggest winding up with lube on the outside of loaded rounds. I mention this only to recognize what appears to be the suggested process from manufacturers of progressive presses.

Personally, I'm not ok with lube on the outside of my loaded rounds => I resize in a separate process, tumble to get the lube off then the cases for loading.

So far myself, I have had no issues using this mix, I start with clean cases, I spray the lube on a case pad, roll the cases, instead of spraying the cases, keeps the lube from getting inside the case, where I don't want it, I use a body die to size cases, after sizing I just wipe the lube off with a paper towel, then neck size with a mandrel die, trim and chamfer, I have use this mix for many years has done the job quite well!

I'll add that I put the sized cases on an old towel and wipe the cases down before tumbling to get most of the lanolin off.

Most guys will make more than one pass through a progressive press. If the lanolin mix is too slick for you and you're concerned, use Hornady One Shot.

Sometimes I want lube inside the neck and sometimes I don't. To accommodate, I made a 16"x16" plywood board and nailed finish nails in it spaced about 2" apart. If I don't want lube inside the neck, I place the brass neck down over the nail and spray them. If I do want lube in the neck, I place them neck up with the nail through the flash hole and spray them. It's much faster than rolling each one.

6.5 guys uses 10:1... I use 8:1

Make sure your using 90%+ alcohol...I use 99%
I use 11 to 1 with 99% alcohol.
Never had an issue with the lanolin (what little of it there may be) remaining on the cases.

1000's of rounds of 223 and about 2000 of 308 with ZERO problems experienced.

But the bottom line is that you need to do what makes it feel right to you.

Like the nail board idea. Looks like I got myself a project.

On a second note, when do spray inside the case?
