Factory Pointed 107 SMK's

Id like to know too. I got some 22 cal 80s that look funny but Im not sure its supposed to be this way or not.
Following
Uneven edges, some sized back too far. Look ok from 2 feet back, but up close all sized different and uneven. I have a pointer die and I know what they look like when you go to far.

Sierra has been shipping bulk factory seconds that are sold as such at great prices. They have also shipped plenty of factory firsts.

Because I have never regretted taking a slight chance on them, I don’t shy away from certain “seconds” and have aggressively bought many myself, but I would retip all SMK’s seconds or otherwise, except DTACS.

Boxes not marked as seconds

Anything in a factory box is the standard or first run, not culled as seconds. Seconds are rarely even identified by brand or line name by the seller, usually just a weight and a picture. Fortunately, I have never seen a generic bullet picture being used, and the picture usually tells us all we really need to know about what it is, as there is no confusing bullets we are so familiar with. The box they arrive in is never factory, if they are seconds.

I tend to believe that sitting around and becoming discolored is a major reason many bullets get culled by the tens of thousands. When Lapua stamped an “L” on bullets, that seemed to render obsolete old stock without the L. I’m sure there are other less innocuous reasons, and it takes more than a typical sale price for me to bite on seconds, but when it’s 1/2 price - and a bullet I use anyway, like a 107 or an 80, I’ll take the leap. I have 5k 80’s enroute and just unpacked 42 pounds of 107’s and 77’s.

I bought a bunch of 107 seconds for my 6BRA
I’ve never had a SMk really disappoint me.

I don't know about those bullets in particular or wether the pointing is any good, but people fuss over the meplat too much in my opinion. A little bit of variation won't hurt anything.
