Will you post a link, I did not find that information about antidepressants, I did, however, find something that "could" be much broader.Tennessee is trying to ban anyone on anti depressants regardless of the reason including being over weight. Look it up. This has to be one of the worst laws ever come up with. It will strip you of your gun rights to you are off them for 6 months or more. Look it up and check it out with a republican governor. Truly sad if the people just let it take hold so call your senators and assemblymen and tell them you will no longer support them if they vote the wrong way. Good luck.
It's sufficient to say I'm in as bad of shape as you! I can't run (can barely walk using leg braces and a cane), can only ride a "bike" that has three wheels. I cannot do a treadmill, but I can do the elliptical machine.Accel
Might help with the bicep I tore years ago and the arthritis from 20+ years ago from fracturing my back in 4 places and my neck in 2 when I took out a S10 head on @50mph that turned in front of me on my Harley....![]()
Please enlighten us since you have put the idea into the either. What arbitrary means will we use to decide who can and cannot own firearms? Is the condition life long? What does that even mean? This is a tough nut to crack. If you look at the majority of mass shootings, the shooter often has a history of a mental disorder. Often a doctor has prescribed a mental altering drug to address the disorder. The patient takes the medication and starts to feel better. The person figures they are feeling better and discontinue taking the medication and they unknowingly revert to their pre-medication state. Bad things happen. We ask, how is it that the authorities didn't know or act to secure any guns this individual may have.
Now, how to you qualify what mental issues/medications disqualify you from owning/possessing a gun? Who is going to make that determination, take that responsibility/liability?
How many veterans have claimed they have PTSD when they mustered out to get the extra disability funds that that condition provided? That is a mental condition and specific drugs are prescribed to treat it. Do you disqualify a veteran (who is identified as having PTSD) from owning a gun? What politician will touch this?
Yes, we need to figure out a better way to treat the mental illnesses that afflict individuals and determine if the illness and the medications that are prescribed to treat them disqualify a person from gun ownership. Is the condition life long, or can an individual re-qualify for gun ownership.
It seems easy to make the determination for someone else, but it is entirely different if it effects us personally. I guess we need to be more pro-active with our health care professionals and ask about the medications they are prescribing and what the ramifications of taking this medication are. Does that just push us to not seek help for the different conditions that befall us because we know the possible consequences?
I wish I had an answer to all these issues. There will undoubtedly be a long and painful journey to figure out how to ensure that individuals who may be a danger to themselves and others are provided the care that secures safety and health for everyone.
oh no. what about cookies, candy, cakes and donuts? i find them to be mood altering.and caffeine.
These "Red Flag" laws are certainly unconstitutional and violate due process of law, but the confiscation of firearms, at least in Tennessee, at will is already happening. An acquaintance here in Tennessee was a victim of such a confiscation of his firearms on the say so that he was a danger to himself and others, from his crazy ex wife. He arrived at his home and found police already inside searching his house to take any firearms away that he had there. He knew the officers well and was able to convince them to at least let his good friend house the firearms while he fought this lie in court. In the end, almost a year later, and without any access to any personal protection from being able to access his firearms, he was able to prove that his ex was just being vindictive (she admitted to it) and wanted to cause him trouble. So, gov Lee adding ANY strength to the already unconditional violating of our due process is deplorable and deserves to be called out by our legislators, as well as our citizenry. Some states already have these laws on the books, so we're heading down a dark path here in Tennessee it seems, as our conservative majority seems to be dwindling by RINOs getting elected on conservative principles, then bending over for the liberals to appease their agenda. Will you post a link, I did not find that information about antidepressants, I did, however, find something that "could" be much broader.
If you read through the bill they are calling "order of protection law", one could argue the language can make you give up your firearms, on a temporary basis, if you go to a marriage or family counselor, or some bad neighbor or family member accuses you of physically threatening them.
They claim punishment for false accusations but you still loose your guns until its settled and we all know how long that can take, and like any other false claim against you even if you are cleared your never really cleared.
It would be my guess that the idiots who come up with this stuff are mostly liberal, anti gun, nut jobs who are already heavily prescribed with psychotropic drugs. jdThey should go after anti-depressants instead of guns!
Look at how many of these mass shooters are liberals! It would be my guess that the idiots who come up with this stuff are mostly liberal, anti gun, nut jobs who are already heavily prescribed with psychotropic drugs. jd

If the elliptical gives you problems, try the recumbent bicycle. My (free) trainer at Planet Fitness showed me how force is almost constantly resistive for 360 degrees, working many smaller muscle groups in legs, abs , back etc. Easy on old joints, too. It's sufficient to say I'm in as bad of shape as you!
