Problems From Ammo Lube

ROBARRC50 has the same issue with his CZ457 and ELEY. He posted pictures of the build up after 20 rounds. His thread is on the 2nd page in rimfire and smallbore section. The picture is posted on the 1st page of his thread, scroll about half way down. I believe he found the easiest cure was to clean it when it gummed up.

Are you experiencing this shooting in cooler temperatures? In my Walther KK-500 the Eley beeswax lube seems to scrape off, rather than spread, as temperatures drop, with results similar to your description. Lapua & RWS cartridges (particularly Lapua Biathlon Xtreme) function fine down into the teens, but I cannot shoot Eley Tenex in that rifle after temperatures start dropping into the 40F's. To me, it's a function of the lube properties, not a problem with the rifle. I just don't shoot Eley Tenex/Match when it's cold.

No it's been around 65deg so far, but your account makes sense.

I wonder if the edge of your barrel's chamber has any radius cut by the reamer, or if it's just a sharp edge? I've chambered several barrels for my 40X & XB repeaters that use V22 magazines with a PTG EPS reamer, which is ground to cut a .015" radius at the rear edge of the chamber - never had an issue with lube build-up on bolts in either of those rifles, nor in any of the V22 repeaters with barrels chambered with the same reamer - but I'm shooting mainly SK-Lapua ammo through them, as the flatnose EPS ammo doesn't feed well. I'm thinking that I need to try some Eley Match in the two V22S rifles that were chambered with a Nevius reamer that isn't ground with the radiused edge. If that causes an issue with fouling the bolt face with excess bullet lube, I'd know better than to try to use Eley ammo in these two rifles - never seen any build-up of lube with SK-Lapua, nor even the few rounds of Norma I've shot through them - and the Norma has quite a bit more lube than either SK or Lapua on the bullets.
