Accurate powder for 22cm

It's been discussed a couple times on older threads, hoping there are some updates. I am loading a 22cm criterion 24" with 80 eld, peterson brass, for ground hogs. I'm not real worried about speed more interested in accuracy. Powders on hand are 4955, imr4350, 4831sc, h1000, retumbo, varget, magnum, magpro, plenty of options. obviously I'll work up my own load, just not sure where to start with powder choices. I'm not partial to any of the listed powders, have plenty of each type. Any guidance is much appreciated.

That's a pretty broad range.

We did a load workup with h1000 in the 22250a and it was pretty stupid. Big wide nodes. Shot small. Hard to light for small spreads.

4350 is the go to.

Howdy !

FWIW - My wildcat .22-35 Remington had case capacity pretty close to a .22CM.
I used my wildcat to shoot both groundhogs and target work. I too, have biased my loads towards best obtainable accuracy; along with useful velocity.

From a 28" SS 1-8 barrel, my best accuracy / field load was 40.5gr AA3100 and FED
LR Match under Hornady 75 "A"-Max. AA3100 is not touted as being temperature stable.

If the newer " Enduron " series powders on their way out, they are likely not a practical choice ( 4451, 4955 et al ).

Your rifle's 24" barrel ( and the chosen bullet wt ) would make the case for use of a powder faster in "burn rate " than AA3100. Probably just about everybody is gonna tell you 4350 is the way-to-go. 4831 would be on the " slow " burn rate spectrum ( too slow ) for this application ( IMHO ).

I have read data that suggests 6.5StaBal would be a powder well positioned for your consideration. It is said to be temp stable.

A powder you might not hear mentioned is V V560. V V 's 500-series powders are intended for use w/ " heavier-for-calibre " bullet choices. But, you did not list that one.
I consider an 80 grainer to be heavy-for .224" calibre.

I use out of mine a 80 Gr Nosler H.P and H-4831 sc
very accurate I can't recall the charge but I know it wasn't the max listed
mine is a 28" barrel with a 1-7 twist punches nice little groups

My very first 22 CM loads were with IMR4451 with 90s and 95s and I had no reason to look further. It was the easiest gun I ever had to get going right out the gate. 3185 fps with 95 SMKs.
I only have 5 pounds left so I’ll have to try something different for it in a couple years since it was discontinued.
