Shot or first NBRSA Group match for 2023 April 1&2

Shot LV/HV 100 on Sat and 200 on Sunday

Weather was very chilly, low of 39 high was 55

LV 100 was all about new shooter Craig Addley. Craig shot four out of five match winning groups and a small .118 for small group. Welcome to the NBRSA and good shooting. Craig won with a .2052 Agg, second was Greg Wilson with a .2588, and third was Steve Epstein with a .2748

HV 100 was the afternoon and a big pick up in the wind. Small group was a .139 by Greg Wilson. Greg won two matches and Steve Epstein won three. But Greg barely hung on to the win with a .2468 Agg to Steve’s .2484. Third was Craig Addley with a .2938

Sunday was HV 200 first, Steve Epstein started off with a small .298 and won three of five matches, propelling him to a .2383 Agg and a Win. Second was Dan Lutke with a .2938 and third was Greg Wilson with a .3083. HV Grand Agg went to Steve Epstein with a .2433, second was Greg Wilson with a .2776 and Third was Dan Lutke .3188

LV 200 was a very windy afternoon. Small group went to Ron pepper with a .417. Match winners went to five different people as we all struggled with the conditions. .481 - .598 - .417 - .642 - .549. In the end first went to Steve Epstein with a .3143 Agg, second was Michael Taner with a .3340, and Third was Greg Wilson with a .3364. The Grand Agg went to Steve Epstein with a 2946. Second was Greg Wilson with a .2976, and Third was George Palms with a .3953

Two Gun Agg was a carbon copy of the LV, Steve Epstein was First with a .2689, Second was Greg Wilson with a .2876, and Third was George Palms with a .3718

Congrats to All, Special shout out to new Shooter Craig Addley, he only shoot one day but did very well for his first time. And a shout out to George Palms, who has not shoot in over a year, and was able to shake the dust off and do well for the weekend.

Thanks to Match Director Dan Lutke for all his work doing the stuff I won't deal with, also my right hand man (no longer my protégé "grasshopper", you keep kicking my ass!) Steve Epstien,
Michael Taner, and new shooter Craig Addely for all their help making this match a success.
Steve and Michael helped me with the frame setup on Friday, and Craig stuck around after the match on Saturday to help us move the frames to 200.
It may not sound like a lot but with a few people pitching in it makes it a lot easier on the rest of us!

This was our first NBRSA registered match using our e-backer system, (the NBRSA is allowing it on a trial basis this year, so we are back to shooting registered matches).
I'm busy milling a mini port in my new (to me) Panda (a pristine 97 example actually), converting it to an ejector.
Once I get a caught up in the next day or so, I will do an update to my e-target thread, filling everyone in on the weekend outcome, short version I am very pleased!!

Thanks to all the participants, hope to see a few more next month for the UBR 100/200 YD Score match on May 6th!

Dave,
Our next registered group match where we use the e-backer frames is in June 3/4 and is the first half of the annual Bob Dorton 4-Gun. Sporter/LV 100/200 in June, HV/UNL 100/200 in July.
Our next match is a 100/200 yd UBR Score match on May 6. Get ahold of match director Dan Lutke at cabenchrest@gmail.com for info.

Thanks Greg I will. I will probably just be a spectator this round to see how things work. Picked up a 30BR but need to make some brass and work up some loads. I shoot F-Class out there, I think my buddy Shawn was talking to you, at one of the F-Class matches, about the BR matches probably a month or so ago since I bought a BR rifle.

Thanks again,
Dave

Let me or Dan know if you are coming (think a week or so lead time) and I or someone else will bring an extra rifle and ammo.
I don’t know about you, but if I spend the time and gas to get out there I’m pop’n caps!
If you have the 30 ready it would be perfect for the UBR score match in May.
Let one of us know, hope to see you there.

FYI,
In my experience, the 30 BR is probably the least finicky cartridge to load for out there.
Case full of H4198 (33.8 is low node 34.4 is high node you will need a drop tube)
with any of the various 112-118 gr bullets, (I personally use 115 gr Berger's) seat them at jam,
and go shoot dots. Not saying you can't tweak it a little but that load will shoot in just about any barrel/chamber.
JMHO, worth what I charge.

I'm also interested in checking out a match. Which range do you shoot on? I am planning on dropping my 6br into a different stock anyway.

Thanks thats good to know, I have to get some dies. I have one piece of brass fired from the barrel and was thinking about sending it to Harrells for a die. Then I need to order a seating die. I have to check I think I have 8lbs of H4198.

We shoot the CF BR matches (100/200 YD) on Range 11 first Sat of the month for the 1 day matches (Score in various formats) and first Full weekend for the Group matches. Rimfire (IR50/50) 3rd Sat. Contact Dan and he will add you to the email drip he sends out.

Dave,
My recommendation would be to f/f 2-3 cases at least twice ( initial and at least once more ) before sending to Harrell’s for the die. Do you know what ND the chamber is? I can probably help you out with a couple of cases to do if need be.
Let me know or we can talk at the match if you make it.
