Left Bolt Left Port in F-class?

Isn't left port left bolt action a better solution for right hand shooter in F-class?
Never shot one but I assume my dominant hand stays on the grip, my cheek on the cheekpiece whereas I manipulate only with my left hand and load the gun with my left hand. My position behind the gun seems unchanged from shot to shot.

I like a right bolt right port as a left hand shooter. Some prefer to have the port on the opposite side facing away from their face for a little extra safety though.

Seems like the bolt handle and your face would be trying to occupy the same space?

If you're bench shooting and you're right handed, left bolt and left port IS the BOMB.
Right hand stays on the stock for control and you "free left hand" works the bolt and feeds ammo.
Same idea for left hand shooters but, it's right port and right bolt.

Built a lefty action into a bench gun. Wanted to try shooting a "lefty" right handed.
Picked up as Savage Model 12 repeater, found an ambi stock, mounted everything up sand went shooting. LOVED IT!!
Ordered up a right hand thumbhole BR style stock and went to work. Plugged and right bolt handle stock cut and re cut for the lefty bolt handle cut.
Added a Whidden V Block, a single shot follower/adaptor for the repeater action.
Right hand stays in the thumbhole for stock control and my free left hand does the bolt and ammo thing. Only issue is going back to my right hand rigs, taking your right hand off the stock to work the bolt or, reaching across to work the bolt. Just not natural.
You do what YOU like, not what someone else likes.

It’s all personal preference. I use a spotting scope on the left side so a left anything isn‘t ideal for me.

Yes, most of my guns are left bolt, left port for the reasons you mentioned. I keep my right hand on the grip, while left hand moves the bolt and feeds the ammo. This is on my F Open and F/tr guns.

As a lefty, I like shooting RB/RP in F-Class. In contrast, I also have a RB/LP that I don't really like.

On the subject "do what you like" I respectfully report that I have no experience with LPLB actions. I consider LPLB action for my next project for the reasons @RDavies just mentioned. There are also safety issues/spotting scope issues rightly pointed out by other members. Currently I try to localize a LPLB person within 300km radius.

Whatever you like will work, but that sounds really awkward to me. Personally, I like to have steel between my face and the case head. I also like that it's not possible load a round with your finger on the trigger if you do everything with the same hand. Too much like patting your head and rubbing your stomach to use both. But milage may vary.

First of all I know that on the ground is likely different than on the bench, but I read that some, who are successful on the ground have chosen to shoot LH actions RH. Having said that, I shoot LH because of eye dominance. I am right handed. Over the years I have shot a lot of RR factory actions, and my custom actioned PPC is LBRPNE (no eject). I am not sure that I prefer the LBRP to the RR. It is very handy.

Years ago, the editor of Precison Shooting also edited a tactical magazine, back in the day when that kind of competition was all about VS 700s, 16X, steel Weaver Ts, and 168 Gold Medal match. One of the better writers did a project rifle with Nesika and convinced them to build it as a left handed action for RH shooters. They were skeptical, but they built it. The shooter for this project was an ex military competitor/instructor with serious credentials as a civilian competitor. This kind of shooting was done pretty much from the ground with some sort of improvised rest, like a pack, and rounds were fed from the magazine. At the conclusion of the test, the shooter said that he liked the left hand action so much that he wondered why he had right hand competition rifles.

I think that it would be better if people actually got some experience with this sort of thing before opining, because I think that this is one of those things that is counterintuitive. What you would think works best may be very different than what does work best. I cast my vote on the side of borrowing a rifle and giving it a serious try before making up your mind.

I'm Right handed and so were all of my rifles. Went to a club match last year and a guy there was selling a Lefty for cheap. It supposedly shot really well, but no one there wanted a Left handed rifle. I bought it figuring even if the barrel was junk I already had a new one to put on it. Ended up really liking it. The only thing I wish it had was a RP for loading cases. Then all I would have to do is shove a new case in and the used one out at the same time. It's certainly worth looking into.

IMHO, only thing about a RP/LB and shooting right handed? You still have to take your "right" control hand off the stock.
Find a lefty to shoot and see for yourself. What works for someone else may not work for you. Don't know till you try.
