We had 2 lane hilly roads with steel dashboards, 70 mph speed limits and people actually thought you were touched in the head if you wore a seat belt.

Shadetree mechanics cleaned parts with leaded gasoline with a cigarette hangin' out of their mouth. Gloves were for winter so your hands didn't stick to the steel when you were on the jungle gym in January swingin' over asphalt.

We threw rocks or pony beer bottles at the street signs standing up in the bed of pickup trucks.

Stitches and plaster casts were a rite of passage from adolescents into adulthood. Our friends signed the casts. We'd make ramps from old plywood and jump over hedges in the summer. Bell bottom jeans got caught in the bike chains regularly. Flyin' down a gravel road with no helmet. No matter if it was a bicycle or motorcycle. Everyone knew exactly what road rash was.

Swimmin' at the creek or rock quarry. No life jackets or supervision of any kind. Diving under the cotton mouths when they got riled up.

Snow ice cream in the winter. Homemade with rock salt and many strong arms in the summer.

Bottlerocket or Roman Candle fights in the back yard in July.

I've no idea how anyone survived.

I figure the first time he runs an unlubed .308 steel case into his full length sizing die, it will become
a permanent assembly. That, plus the decap pin deforming against the berdan primer base, all
locking the case and shell holder into the die, should keep him out of Murphy's reach for a while.

Over on johnnys reloading bench discord there a few guys reloading steel cases. There is also a hall of shame channel where they seem proud of mistakes. Pics of guys in hospital getting shrapnel removed. The list goes on. They think it funny at times. Try to help and teach them and they call you a fudd.

Let's let them keep going till the bottom feeders kill themselves off, fixing the issue. Let's just hope that they don't find their way near us on the firing line.

My range officer told me a couple of guys from Illinois wanted to shoot their AR15 at the 25 yard line. When he told them it was Pistol or Rimfire only.
They said, what the F-ck is rimfire!

That's "sub-short range", even for AR shooters that are only caring if something noisy comes out of the hole in the end.

I was at a local outdoor range (a real dump) where some young punks showed up that got money way too easily and at too young of an age. They were standing on top of the benches at (25 yards?), more than one or two at a time, "shooting" ARs and AKs, dumping their mags (not allowed there), yelling "get the Bitch" and other similar phrases.

Nobody can point to even 1 instance where anyone else was killed or even significantly injured and the energy of flying pieces even in this extreme case was insufficient to penetrate a single wall and so it's unlikely that penetration in living tissues wouldn't have been impressive if frags even penetrated at all.

About 35 years ago I saw a barrel failure on a Perazzi 12 guage, really caused damage to the shooters forearm.

As I stated earlier I've seen almost nothing for over 50 years until these images of blown up guns on the internet.

To me, knowing people the low failure rate amazes me and is a testimony to design.

What could possibly go wrong? Its only what fifty thousand psi? Trial and error is the best way to learn. Desperate times! He probably thought he hit the gold mine with all the empty steel cases on the ground at the range!

You can pick them up with a magnet! Awesome!

Some people that are not mechanically inclined or have sufficient attention to detail thus are not personality wise suited for reloading. This is not a slam on those individuals. They are just wired differently and probably have skills that others don't have. That's why we have people in different professions that require different sets of inherent skills. Not everyone is suited personality wise for reloading or work requiring a high mechanical aptitude. Not everyone is suited for office work requiring strong administrative and paper processing skills.

Some individuals would be better served using factory ammo if they don't have the discipline to read a manual and want to learn the basic fundamentals of reloading or if they have trouble mastering mechanical skills.

I've trained a lot of young people in shooting and reloading and quite frankly I can almost always spot the ones the should take up another hobby. They don't have the patience and are looking for a quick and easy way to short circuit the effort and time required to become proficient.

For example, I can't hit a golf ball straight where as my cousin can't hit an NRA B16 target at 25 yards nor is either us interested in learning what the other does best.
