AA 4350 In .243 Wincherster

Folks,
I just purchased a pound of this powder and I'm looking for anyone that has used it; pro or con?
I plan to use it in a couple of Ruger No.1s with 10 twists using Nosler 90 and 95 grain Ballistic Tips for deer.
Also, with 65 grain Hornady V Max bullets for coyotes.
Thank you in advance for your time and consideration.

AA-4350 is my favored powder for 90gr. Scenar-L's in .243 Win (Winchester Model 70, 10" twist). Should work great for your Nosler's. Just don't be surprised if your canister is a little soft. Mine was.

I've shot and reloaded for the 243 Win since the late 60's. I've also taken a bunch of white tails with it.

Not sure how AA compares to IMR but it's probably close enough. With bullet weights 85 grains and over, IMR 4350 gave me outstanding results. I can't imagine AA not duplicating that performance.

While I had by best performance (groups) with IMR 4064 for bullet weights 80 grains and under, IMR 4350 is still very good, the difference is not enough to rule out 4350 even for predator which have a smaller vital area. You should be fine.

Incidentally, the best bullet I've ever used and tested in the 243 Win is the Sierra 85 grain BTHP. This is a multi-purpose bullet and can be used for deer, varmints, and predators. Powders that worked very well for me with this bullet are: IMR 4064, Varget, IMR 4350, and IMR 4895.

This bullet can be hard on fur if you salvage it for predators. With deer, for best performance, you have to avoid a shoulder shot. But it will drop a deer quickly if hit in the vital area.

I use AA 4350 for my daughter's Remington .243 also. 38.0 gr under a 100 gr Nosler Partition. It's picky, very small node, but it works for sub MOA accuracy out to 100 yards, which is about the max distance we can shoot during our hunting trips on our property.

I havent tried it in 243 but it shot great in my 338RCM, .5"
Its a tic slower than the IMR variety. They had a recall on it 1-2 yrs ago and had to destroy mine as it was in the affected lot although mine looked and smelled fine. It sure shot good.

Same here. I also loaded my 300 WSM with it, using 150 gr NBT's and NAB's. That load was down at sub 1/2 MOA out to 500 yards. I believe they started back with lot # 23 didn't they? The beginning lot # that was deemed safe to use again?

Not in 243, but I ran a quick & dirty velocity comparison with 9 different brands &/or lot#s of the various 4350s in 4 chamberings representing differing case capacity/expansion ratio, from 22-250 Ackley thru 358 Norma, a short while back. Unsure of lot to lot variation with the AA powder, it was rather large with H & IMR powders acquired at different times over the past 30 years.

Accurate, like H & IMR, has changed suppliers over the years since it was 1st produced (1991?). The Accurate data from their 1st edition manual (1994), & various Quikloads I've seen online, shows a significantly quicker version of the powder than my results.

My only lot
of AA4350, from Canada 2021, was much closer to IMR4831 than most of the other 4350s. When case fill reaches 100% with H or IMR4350, my lot of Accurate is unusable if the same velocity is desired. I have used my 2021 lot of AA4350 in cartridges where IMR4831 is appropriate with very similar speed & group size. Shooters World 4350 was a wee bit slower than the Accurate stuff.

YMMV. Start at the start & work up. Hopefully it will work out for you.

My thanks to all for your quick and informative replies.
Just the kind of information I'm looking for.
Keep it coming!!!!
