INTERNATIONAL BOARD OF STANDARDISATION (ISO)

First thing I read this morning on my homepage (MSN) was that Discover Card will be the first in the nation to move ahead by adopting the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) which will track gun purchases by creating a merchant categorization system for credit card purchases, to supposedly reduce gun crime.
It also stated in the article that the proponents of the move were gun control activists and Democratic politicians.
I promptly called Discover and let them know how disappointed I was in their decision and as soon as I found any other credit card company that was not going to do this I would be cancelling and switching and I also stated that I felt this move violated the second and fourth amendments to the Constitution.
Just a heads up.

Wow - this is alarming! Thanks for the heads up. Really surprised because I think Discover is based in Utah, one of the most conversative States in the US.

I wonder if they are going to track ammo, components, cleaning supplies, etc. purchases too?

Now it begins!!!!

Back to cash. Most of the planet runs on $100 bills.
Now you see the use case(s) for crypto.
I'm not saying in its current form it is ready for adoption by anybody so let's not go down that sewer pipe.

Protection from currency debasement by governments and now privacy with your money and what you do with it are the threats we must face. Been that way since the Roman Empire.
Its a whole lot easier now with computers.

Gun control advocates pushed for this, but both retailers and Credit Card companies have said it doesn't do what the gun grabbers want.

All it does is create a category for gun stores. If I buy a bottle of soda at a coded gun store, it shows up the same as if I bought a gun.

If I buy a gun at Scheels, a sporting goods store, not coded as a gun store, it shows up the same as if I bought a pair of running shoes.

Credit Card companies have no way to track the individual items purchased. The retailer categories were originally created to allow credit card rewards for specific categories of purchase (Double Points at Restaurants!!!).

You summed it up nicely.

"..the codes will not show specific items purchased.."

"A representative for Geneva-based ISO said the new code, dubbed "5723 - Gun and ammunition shops" - would be available for financial institutions to use by the end of February."
How are the codes adigned? Is it possible the shops can clarify themselves as art stores...... sculptures in wood and steel?

I am older than I expected to make and have all the safe will hold. My son's will get them all. I quit using credit cards for my sport about 5 years ago.

That said, the liberals with any tiny bit of power in local, state or federal will continue to come up with some way to destroy us. Just look what the governments has been active in.

Even if we were to go to cash, they will work some method to get around it. If the right people take over in 2025, we will see a short length before the anti-everything will come up with a way.

Old age has the advantage of not seeing the future.

The Master Minds want digital currency also. Its about absolute power.
No, they want a centralized currency. Totally different but they just say yea like crypto so youll just nod your head in misunderstanding. Crypto is not trackable but a central bank digital currency will be the death of the whole world and when folks will finally wake up

It's been coming for a while. The history is pretty well covered here:

This hobby brings me much "peace of mind" which promotes "wellness" which is being promoted heavily now by the health insurance industry.
So I suggest gun stores self-identify as "medical device sales" and we can purchase stuff using our HSA accounts. Even Medicare perhaps.
Problem solved.

so, can someone explain...
1) if they assign a gun store ISO code to any multi department stores like LL Bean, Cabelas, Bass Proshop who sell firearms as well as many other outdoor, deck shoe and related items?

2) or is there a separate sub code for their gun departments?

So far as I understand it, if the store sells guns or not is the only criteria; but if you
look up Augustin Carstens and the ideas he has for CBDCs, they will eventually
know each and every purchase a person tries to make and they will decide whether
or not to allow the purchase according to that individual's social credit score.

When the democrats devalue the dollar enough, government will be "forced" to create a digital currency. The WEF wants a single digital monetary system, all purchasing would be controlled. Your doctor says you need to lose weight, no high calorie/high sugar items can be purchased. High blood pressure, no salty foods. WEF anti gun, no firearm/ammo. So this category purchase meta data collection is the first step in the process, the slippery slope many have been cancelled for talking about. The U.S. constitution stands in the way of world Marxism, that's why the bullseye has always been the bill of rights.

We do not need any other nations looking at what we purchase. ISO certification is pretty stupid unless you are exporting. A guy I worked for once part time was a Die Maker by trade. He ran a small fab shop that employed less than ten people. He had punch presses and did die grinding and making. Some company asked him about going ISO and he checked into it. He told them he couldn't afford it and if that's what they required then go find someone else to do their work. He eventually sold the shop and is now retired. The guy was a regular wizard on Bridgeport machines and could figure tonnage on any die.
