Schneider barrels contouring lathe available

I went to Schneider Barrels in Canadian Texas yesterday and Nate ran the contouring lathe for me that he got as part of his acquiring Schneider barrels. This is an amazing lathe. Even if someone were just to buy the lathe and not even use the fixture attached to it the lathe is just a gorgeous smooth running machine that has a massive cast base so it must be incredibly stiff.

Anyway I am not able to get it for myself. But someone should snatch this thing up. It is $7,500 and you come get it in Canadian Texas or haven it picked up.

Our new lathe is that same model. It is very smooth and stable.

That fixture would have been useful a couple months ago. Might be useful to us in the future.

I felt the same way. I thought about buying it and replacing my Logan. I'm just not sure it would fit and I just don't know if I can ask my friends who do my machine setup for any more favors.

LOL. I too try to walk that fine line between learning firm those guys and not irritating them. I have already failed in that area with @DaveTooley. He didn't like my attempts at humor.......

Looks like my Kingston HJ-1700. It's pretty easy to toss a VFD in that electrical compartment in the rear and run the machine on single phase while retaining all of the original controls.

Yes. Almost all of our lathes hav a conventional taper attachment.

One of the lathes at the local community college where I was an adjunct had a similar hydraulic tracer. I used it to bevel pipe welding coupons. Believe it was on a 12" or 14" Harrison.

Thanks. I see now. It’s a tracer attachment.

I should have known that. Large tracers used to be common in big job shops, but CNC pretty much has taken their place.

I rebuilt some tracing stylus a few years ago. They were hydraulic and were accurate to 2 tenths!
