Ideas on how to protect digital safes

from an EMP ?
What's EMP? In an emergency just use a crowbar like a thief would. I'm sure glad I have the rest of the world to worry about the things I don't know or give a good crap about. Have a good day. Sorry.

I changed my digital lock to a dial lock not especially in fear of an EMP, but the digital locks fail. I had two digital locks fail to operate effectively; it took several tries to open the safe. The manufacturer replaced the locks at no cost, but I saw a future problem; Murphy's Law.

No a lot of them don’t.
If we get a emp attack everyone is pretty well screwed unless your driving something majorly old and cooking and heating with wood.
My safe has a dial lock, I can cook with my gas stove, and my furnace has no digital controls, plus I do have a wood stove for supplemental heat.
Of course if we were to get hit with an EMP there would be no fuel deliveries, wood deliveries or anything else for quite a while because it would take years to recover.

They make EMP protection for cars and houses already.... Surely one can be installed on a safe... www.empshield.com I think... You could install a cage around the safe etc... Google will give you tons of ideas...

Same problem with mine. Liberty covered it the first time but second was on me.
That's when I had the locksmith put the dial back on.
He was a super nice guy and, while he was here, he changed all my combinations to the same numbers.

I think the EMP delivery mode would have great bearing on the lasting effects.
Some electronics could recover quickly, especially battery powered devices.
Others, such as our power grid, could be virtually destroyed IF the EMP was delivered to just the right area of the grid. Otherwise, outages would be somewhat localized.
As for my opinion, if the USA suffers another EMP it will be a specific area and will be delivered by (well) US.
