Of course, Taiwan is Taiwan's problem, when it comes right to it.
Taiwan is our problem. Many of the most critical products our economy and standard of living require rely on Taiwanese semiconductors.

"Taiwan is home to the Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company (NYSE:TSM), which is the world’s largest contract chip manufacturer both in terms of market capitalization (as of December 4th, 2022) and output. TSMC is often referred to by the Taiwanese as the ‘sacred mountain’ as the firm’s importance in global trade lends Taiwan a unique security advantage (and disadvantages as well). Taiwan is home to some of the most advanced chip-making facilities in the world, including the brand new 3-nanometer fabs that just entered production in the latter half of 2022."

And it's not just semiconductors. There's a huge amount of conventional industrial production there we rely on.

You can shrug your shoulders, but believe it - China conquering Taiwan would be a catastrophe for the US and the global economy.

And still so many dont bat an eye at buying something with "made in china"
Good point. Problem is there's not much choice anymore apart from doing without.

It's come down to doing without before. Difference is these days the rioters will burn everything when they can't get what they want for free.

Russia and China don't need to do anything now but be patient. The country is destroying itself.

Not a fan of any politician of any party or president current or past, but not knowing what might be in that thing...viruses, explosives etc., I personally didn't want it to be shot down over dry land and put the population at risk. Seven mile spread of debris...very few areas with no one endangered by such a spread. Pretty sure our military wanted to examine it and had a bit of say in the matter too. Far more likely to be able to examine what hit water rather than crushed against ground.

And you don’t think they had this chance beforehand?
