Spy balloons: what are they and why are they still being used?
The idea emerged during the French revolutionary wars, so what is their appeal now, in the age of the satellite?
Remember, it more than likely came over Canada also and into the USA. Everyone knows the PM in canada also favors communisim as does Joe and Pamala and the Democrats, so none of them will do anything to harm this balloon from China. It is safe and sound from any harm, with these people in power in the USA and Canada.
Showing my age, and it was also war time. But how many remember the Jap balloons that came over the US, during WWII ? , Our government, then, shot them down, when they were in areas safe to do so.
Most of those were of the type that started fires where they came down, on their own.
This balloon, from China, is doing nothing but spying and gaining information that they intend to use further, when they are ready to attack or harm the USA.
Exactly!I don’t see it as a huge threat but
They must be interested in how deep the snow is here in Montana.
Well, everything. Unfortunately I mean it. There is not a single item or person in the Federal Government that I have any respect for at all. What is wrong with our country anymore?
Nope. Read some news reports, it drifts wherever the jet stream takes it. Think about it: that huge a helium bag, at 60,000 feet, and the winds up there are over 100 mph. It's unusual it stalled for a while over one large state, a fluke of nature. You dont think it has some type of propulsion system like a blimp?
That's not the definition of "maneuverable". That's "hunt and pray" until your luck runs out. Let's see it head back the way it came to China, then you'll have a fair argument. It is maneuverable and so large(payload) it is dangerous to "shoot" down. Some where over central US, guess maneuverable by changing altitude to find a wind direction change.
LOL. Others quoted said the exact opposite. At this point they're in total panic CYA mode, and haven't got their story straight. Ask any pilot you know how maneuverable that thing is.Pentagon has reported it in maneuverable, controllable.
Bust it as long as it doesn't present any danger to homes or people on the ground!reported to be stationary over Montana. Does anyone believe the Chinese wouldn't bring down a US spy balloon that was over their territory?

Great news, it's within 6.5 Creedmoor range.....get ready guys.Nope. Read some news reports, it drifts wherever the jet stream takes it.
