I don't know if it was ever 'common'.Is neck sizing only still a common practice?
It's YOUR decision. 1000 + rounds and no issues? Only takes ONE TIME sticking a case in a die and you'll wish you HAD lubed.I've loaded and reloaded over 1,000 rounds so far and have yet to use case lube. I know you are supposed to use it. But, other then the case getting stuck, are there any other benefits?
Thanks.
and will blow out on firing.Dented shoulders will follow!
Direct and on point...........and correct!I dont know of anybody using lube on the necks or shoulders unless using an expander ball then lube the neck with 21st century moly neck lube kit. When FL sizing only lube the body
How are you bumping shoulders? What die?I don't know if it was ever 'common'.
I never FL size. Just shoulder bumps and bushing neck sizing (in separate operations).
With appropriate cartridge, chamber and dies, to SAAMI max, FL sizing is not a requirement.
And without FL sizing, nor excess sizing in general, things get a whole lot easier.
In contrast, something like a 30-06, and/or a sloppy chamber, will lead to FL sizing. No way around it.
I use lube for shoulder bumping, but not for bushing neck sizing.
Someone mentioned & it is important that the neck ODs are clean for sizing.
I bump 1-1.5thou with bump dies. Custom JLC Precision. How are you bumping shoulders? What die?
Glad to see I'm not the only one doing it this way.Direct and on point...........and correct!
