New .224 Hornady 50gr. CX

Been waiting on some pelt friendly bingbangs for my 22-250 Tika T3x hopeing there is some availability on these this season!

Its a slight disappointment to see the BC of these CX bullets substantially (half in this case) lower than their ELD-X or even the traditional FMJ. Seems to be this way across all of the chamberings it is offered in.
Seems a bit odd considering the lengths they go to develop the A-Max and ELD-X with Doppler testing and yet these are the newest offering and so much lower BC of the old ones.

50 gr CX = .164 (G1)
52 gr ELDM = .247 (G1)

Anyone tried em yet? Think a Tikka with a standard barrel (1/14) can stabilize them?

Unless you have had a rebarrel, I believe your tikka is a 14 twist.

You're correct.. Was looking at a box of 55g Barnes TSX with 1:12 stamped on there and mistyped, those wouldn't stabilize fyi.. that twist rate is definitely my biggest knock on the Tikka 22-250's, they really like you to shoot small light bullets 52gr max (non alloy) for decent groups I have found.
As Tommie mentioned the alloy construction seems to prefer even faster twist rate than lead for the same weight.

Would me happy finding a match grade barrel in Canada for it, as I've passed over 1500 rounds a while ago.
Poor thing has bore the brunt of my mistakes learning to reload.
Which ones have the 1:8 twist, the Hunters with the stainless barrel?

I have the stainless steel version with the synthetic stock and they also make it in the blued steel with synthetic stock. I’m not sure about the Hunter version.

That’s what I thought. Mine is a 14. I never seen a 8 in 22/250. I seen they offer it in 223 though

You might try the Lehigh Defense 32gr Controlled Chaos in your 22-250. Their load data has it clicking along at 4100 with AA2200 in the 223. I hit 4200 with my 223AI and AA2200, pretty flat trajectory to 300 yds. Emailed them for data for the 22-250, haven't heard back. The reason that the alloy bullets of the same weight require a faster twist is because they are longer, length dictates the twist.

There are several of the Tikkas with the 8 twist on Gunbroker now and Some have the 14 twist.

I have seen adds on gunbroker where the seller listed the item wrong and my friend noticed it.
The rifle was listed as something it was not but my friend recognized it and told his neighbor who was looking for one. He ended up winning the auction for about $600 less than it should have.
The seller informed him he listed it wrong but would honor the selling price as it was his mistake.
I checked the tikka site and there were 53 configurations for the t3 x lite and none of the 22-250 were anything but 14 twist

There are several 8 twists for sale now on Gunbroker. I don’t care if nobody buys them.

Tikka offers the 22-250 T3 in 1-8, great rifles, I owned one and I’ve seen many others. Great shooting rifles.
