How to adjust WFT Case Neck Trimmer?

What's the best way to measure/adjust the WFT case neck mouth trimmer to within .001" or so of my selected case length from base to mouth?

Presently for my WFT case neck trimmer (which indexes from the case shoulder to trim the end of the case mouth), I'm using the hex adjustment screw on the trimmer shank to make adjustments to find my intended case length from case base to mouth (measured using a Mitutoyo caliper) and its trial and error to obtain the intended case length. Is there an easier way other than trial and error? Is there a WFT that comes with a micrometer adjustment?

The base to datum length must be the same to be able to get the OAL the same using a WFT.

I fought that same thing using the WFT.
They're in the back of a drawer now, while I use a L.E. Wilson trimmer for accurate OAL.

I’ll agree. They are fast and simple but as far as getting all cases the same length it struggles

Have a WFT for every caliber I shoot. I have each one set for the case length I want in that caliber and never change it once it's set. I only trim after sizing the case, so shoulder is set where I want it.
I will say that I could care less if it is within a thousandth from case to case when I trim. I trim to make sure my cases are not too long for my chamber and typically leave .005 clearance minimum. If cases vary a few thousandths, well, OK. Shoot em'

My WFT trimmers dont see much use anymore ever since I bought the power-adapter for my Wilson. Trying to make them come out precise is futile. sorry ,

You can't expect a trim from shoulder to exactly match trim to base.
The only way it would is if the shoulders were all identical.
So I wouldn't try to get an exact match, and it just isn't THAT important.

If you’re able to get dead nuts shoulder bumps the WFT will be perfect. Make sure you ain’t getting brass flakes in the shoulder insert. Good trimmer. I have a Henderson now so the WFT is a backup, but they’re good. Use a case that’s needing trimmed, put it in the tool, spin the end mill until the desired measurement is reached, set the screw.

Am I hearing this correctly, that people are not getting shoulder bumps all within a thousandth??

Agree. You pretty much have to size cases before trimming in the WFT because if you don’t the cases get stuck in the trimmer.

A Giraud registers off the shoulder as well. The WFT and Giraud should both have the same variation as your shoulder bump variation.

I trim one after sizing with my Lyman and save it. Then I just use it to set my WFT. If I have multiple rifles in the same caliber with different head space, you would need a case for each.

I set my rifle head space the same on identical cartridges and size them all the same. So I never have to adjust mine.
