CFE-223

I am loading a .308 Win for F/TR. I am shooting with a 24 in barrell with 12 twist for the time being. I have read about some of these velecities that CFE-223 will give a guy with the 168 gr. Will this load data differ much when shooting a 168 Bewrger hybrid? Does anyone have any information or experience on this powder and the .308 Win? Hodgon says that you can get 2828fps. Any information is greatly appreciated. Thanks for your time.

I've used CFE223 in one of my 223s shooting 75g Hornady ELDMs for several years. It has been very accurate on chucks out to 450 yards and occasionally out to 600 and 700 yards. I just replaced one of my barrels and in this cold weather velocities and accuracy is all over the map. Shooting in mid teens to the twenties. Tomorrow I'm going to try some ARComp with those ELDMs in this barrel and hope for better results. I've tried 4 different primers with no luck. Just hoping that the CFE223 really does not burn well in cold temps because I have 32 lbs of the stuff.

Update. Other loads with both 77g Sierra TMKs and 75g ELDMs loaded over AR-Comp made 1/2 inch holes at l00 yards. I just need to wait for the weather to warm up a bit to run test loads with the CFE in my new barrel and all will be well. So the answer is "yes, CFE223 is very tempermental." especially in cold temps.
