Do companies like Manson guarantee their gauge rods?

I'd bet they'd give you some sort of tolerance spec. Don't know if PTG does or not but I can tell you theirs very straight. I cannot remember what the TIR was but I don't recall the needle budging hardly at all. Maybe if I have time I'll put it in a bench center and check it again.

100%. I would still like to see a person prove that truing an action actually shows up on the target. The response always is "it must be better". I do know one feller that did test the trued action versus the non-trued action and his outcome was that you could not see it on the target.

That would require a lot of effort and money just for the sake of it. I look at my own experiences with rifles that have a chance to show the smallest differences. It just so happens that I met Alex at about the halfway point of my 1,000 yard career. It just so happens that since that time, I haven't had one that wasn't gone through and fixed. And since then I haven't had a barrel that had to come off due to under performing. My eyes have gotten worse, and I've become more likely to screw the pooch under stress, but somehow my records per year have gone from .8 to 1.8.....Weird how that happened. Coincidence maybe?

It may be that far out but I'm not hanging my hat on measuring something rolling it on my mill vice finger tension or not. If it's truly that bad I'd be calling Manson and discussing it.

There are a pair of precision Starrett v-blocks in the vice. I sent 3 of these back before I finally was able to talk to their machinist. Some sort of miscommunication I guess on what the purpose of the rods were. They switched from centerless to between centers grinding and sent me a good one and I've used it dozens of times without indecent.

None of the long pin gages I’ve ever seen come with a straightness guarantee due to they are centerless ground. Meyer gage states that specifically in their custom gage info. Do you have a source or reference for 12” long pin gages that guarantees straightness?
