Trigger weight on AR?

Target: I'm more a Timney guy. However the TT Diamond I had in my one rifle was amazing.

I had a Jared installed in a 24” Valkyrie and it’s probably the lightest AR trigger I’ve used, about 1.5 lbs.
The only problem was, it was easy to bump fire or double when using a very slow squeeze.
I tried replicating with the upper removed and all seemed good, so I blame it on my shooting. I installed a heavier trigger and no more bump firing.
The best cheap milspec I have is a CMMG. It’s the smoothest and lightest weight standard trigger I’ve touched. I need to order another kit to see if I just got lucky or if they are all that good.

Which trigger? On CMMG's website, I'm not seeing any triggers made by CMMG. There are several that are made by other companies.

You won't go wrong with a Rise RA-140 drop in trigger. They are single stage, non adjustable, weight falls in the 3-3 1/2# range. There could be a new product # for it now. Same trigger. Great hunting trigger. 2 stage are nice for target but I absolutely hate them for hunting.

I don't know, but I do know it don't matter what color or picture is on them, you can't see them when installed. A black or silver trigger is all that shows.

When 90% of the CMP & NRA service rifle competitors have a Rock River Arms 2 stage, I think that says there real hard to pass up. I put a RRA 2 stage 3 pound "varmint trigger " in my match rifle.

I got tired of the RRA two stages wearing out and doubling/tripling. I like the nickel boron triggers from Aero for that reason.

While a desirable trigger weight depends on the application, I really like the Geissele High Speed National Match with the light springs. First stage is just under 2lbs; second stage is right at 6 oz. Icicle break.

I would love a TriggerTech Diamond with more weight in the first stage and less in the second.

LaRue is the best for $ IMHO . A tuned single stage is good as well but it is trial and error in rolling the disconnector forward

it really depends on the actual use of the rifle. for on the bench ,target only i have used as low as 16 oz.
define the use then pick the appropriate trigger

I have two RRA 2 stage that I really like, but I put a 3lb velocity in my wife's rifle and I really like it for varmints

Everyone will have a favorite and most are valid opinions. To each their own!

I have several different ones, that includes the James Madison units.
