7-08 - What reamer to make a 30 degree shoulder?

Hi,
In my quest to never leave well enough alone, I am wanting to buy a tikka 7-08 and chase the standard 7-08 factory chamber to make a 30 degree shoulder chamber and make sure the throat is good for 160 to 180 bullets.

I have heard of others using 284 reamers, the 7 saw reamer is an option, others?

thanks haeffnkr

I know we all do things that aren’t necessary and “because I want to” is a legitimate reason….

but I gotta ask, why?

if I were going to stick a reamer in there I’d buy a 7mm version if a 6SLR reamer* with the freebore I wanted, take off a couple of threads and rechamber it with a 30 degree shoulder that doesn’t really require fire forming.

My experience with my 6SLR is that the case capacity is effectively the same as the parent case.

*bet you could get 90% of the cost back selling it. (if the freebore was right I might buy it)

The SAW is really close and might work but the 284 is a hard no. It's considerably bigger around.

What twist?
Are you taking off the barrel and setting it back from the 7-08 or just chasing the current chamber?
I was running a 8.5 twist on my 284 win. 8.5 will shoot the 180 bergers perfectly. I've never had an issue. On this 7 Saw I'm going 8 twist because its what I could find.

7mm-RPC, is based off the 7mm-30TC lengthened for 08 Brass. PT&G have the print & you choose throat for bullet & jump.
