9mm

Has anyone heard of a 9mm ammo shortage coming? My wife was in sportsman's and overheard people panicking about looking for some. This locations shelvs have been loaded up with 9mm latley but she said there was none. This is news to me. She even saw a sheriff come in looking for it while she was there.

Lots available online, haven’t heard about any upcoming shortages though.

There is lots on the shelves last week where I live. Ammunition companies are going 24-7. I can’t imagine yet another ammo shortage. Maybe people are panicking, hoarding ammo again.

Hoarding? Smart buying is a better term. The people that bitch about hoarding are usually the ones that weren't prepared and blame others.
I disagree. When you buy just to buy, in mass quantity its hoarding. Some people are sitting on 20,000 primers, while many of us are looking to buy 1,000 to maintain our shooting. Be it competition, pleasure or practice. I see more and more fellow shooters that have simply given up reloading or shooting because of the shortage. That can't be good. I know I have limited my shooting to a once a month casual competition at the club I belong to, opposed to every weekend as in the past.

I don't look at it as hoarding when I bought supplies steadily and wasn't doing so as a result of a panic as people are doing now. I bought primers, powder and other components when I could as a edge against future price increases. Is saving for retirement hoarding money? Sometimes the old saying you pays your money and you makes your choices is pretty accurate. People pointing the hoarding finger were free to do the same thing. After some of the crap we've seen in the last thirty years you'll have to pardon me if I can't feel sorry for the unprepared and laugh off the hoarding label. I look at it as being prudent.

Young man, if you had taken advantage of good deals in the past you could shoot every day. I have a lot of supplies as I bought things along when the price was right. Being 80yrs old I knew in the old days that a box of 22 rimfire would not always be .99cents. Yes, I bought a case, 5,000, Fed srm primers for $100. Yes, I also bought another 5,000 for $500 knowing they probably won't be cheaper. I've got a box of 1,000 Remington 7 1/2 match primers that has a price tag with $20. on it that I tried to sell in the past and nobody wanted them.
rr2030, just buy along and you will be fine.

psychology: the compulsion to continually accumulate a variety of items that are often considered useless or worthless by others accompanied by an inability to discard the items without great distress
Hoarding is marked by an overwhelming desire to collect items and an inability to discard things that may seem useless, to such a point that the collections cause stress and start impacting a person's health, career or relationships.

I do not keep useless stuff anything I buy in quantiles that I deem is useful is not hoarding.

your opinion is not held by people that are smart enough to buy wisely...esp in this sport

You know when your 1st,2nd,4th amendment rights are gone you will have to turn it all in, with no compensation. Realist or pessimist not sure the way elections have went since 2008.

It's funny how that works isn't butch. A buddy was with me a while back in my reloading room. He saw a stack of 50 gr. Sx hornadys that are magic in a 222 I have. He was shocked at the price tag on it. 6 bucks and some change. Still have 2000 left. That was around 35 years ago when I bought them and have gone through a bunch and still have these left. He poked around and found some other "bargains". Had to explain they weren't really that big a bargain then and it hurt a bit to buy but they weren't going to get cheaper and they flat shot in my 788 Remington! I figure people that point the hoarding finger won't sacrifice a bit at times now to make their future a lot better!
