41AE?

I was given a bunch of old reloading stuff, and within this is a box of 50 new 41 AE pieces of brass. Does anyone know much about the 41AE? I have never come across a firearm chambered in 41AE (50AEe, BUT NEVER 41AE)

some the old Desert Eagles came with 41AE as an option. could actually get a two barrel version of 41AE and 44mag or 41AE and 50 AE for those hand canons. still see them around occasionally, not sure on ammo availability???

.41AE was a way to get .400 caliber range bullets into autopistols simply. Originally a "cut down" .41 Mag, was seen as a sorta 10 mm with .41 bullets, in 9 mm guns. Got some buzz if not popularity in the 10/.40 transition era, a handful of gunmakers built .41 AE barrels for their 9mm guns instead of doing wholly .40 slides.

One I know did it was IWI or whatever they were called back then (Magnum Research was just the importer) was the Jericho 941:

That's still the name of their CZ clone, they still make, but originally it was called that because it was available in 9, 41, or best yet a (very overpriced! I saw and never could afford one of these at the LGS as a poor college kid) hard case with mags, barrels, springs, ammo even for both calibers.

ETA: The 941 was sometimes called a Baby Desert Eagle because Magnum Research. Do not be confused by this. They are not Desert Eagles.

BUT... the DE came in not just the well known .44, the .50 AE later, but the often forgotten (but delightful to shoot in it) .357, and... .41 Magnum. So that may also be why MR/IWI embraced the .41 AE vs just making a .40 gun, because they were .41 Mag people.

41 AE used 41cal bullets (corrected -thanks Justpassin) in rebated rim brass with 9x19 head size. 40 S&W killed it.

I had that exact kit a few years ago. The 41 AE is a .41 caliber bullet.

Israeli Industries pioneered it, mostly used in CZ-75 clones. Shoot high pressure 40/10mm. rounds with out a bolt face change, The caliber conversion kit was a barrel and mag. The case was a rebate rim 40/10mm case with a std 9mm rim.

I owned, shot and reloaded for one and it isn't a .40, check out the link above.

Yes! I remember the UZI now! Someone in like SGN was desperately trying to sell off 41 AE barrels for a song for /years/. No one needs any of that though.

Had to look and they made the same kit as the pistol, both calibers in one box!

Yep, I remember these well. Traded my UZI pistol for a new M1A Springfield back when they were assembled using leftover M14 parts, and still have it. Don't know what the UZI would be worth now had I kept it but I most likely got my a$$ burned as usual.
