Well, 3031 was my old go-to powder for the 30-30 and I managed to find a couple pounds. When I was reading my manual for the load data, I noticed they had H335 listed. Being that I have about 12 pounds of it, I’ve been using that for the Marlin and 150 jacketed. I did some research about a nagging thought in my head concerning the Berry bullets. I confirmed my memory that they’re supposed to be limited to under 2000 FPS so I’ll be loading lite for them. I’ll be checking the manual again for a suitable powder for that. Lite loaded Berry’s for plinking rounds will work for me.I love the rifles, the cartridge and I’m really liking this thread.
Now the million dollar question. What powder do you think you’ll settle on for those 150 plated bullets?
I have the same memories. The Virginian, Gunsmoke, etc. I really like shooting small with my customs, but sometimes all the finicky prep and measuring gets tedious and I just want to loosen up and play. I used to use an AR for that but I found myself drifting back to the beginnings of my shooting days. I had to get some lever guns for that.Well I fell in love with lever guns from watching black and white westerns as a kid I did not own one until I 34th birthday? It was 2 years before Remington bought Marlin. The serial number puts it 5 years before Remington bought them but I she physically bought it 2 years before Remington bought them.
In fact my eye sight was still better than 20/20 back then and at 100 yards with iron sights I could hit anything I could see with it and cheap Remington UMC Walmart/Meijers 45-70 ammo.
Now I am getting ready for my first set of bifocals. LOL So I tossed on an NOS American Made 3X9 Burris Fullfield back before they off shored them!
