150s in 10 twist 300 win mag

Just acquired a tikka heavy barrel 300 win mag...10 twist...anyone shoot the light 150s in a 10 twist barrel? I think I can go as high as 200gr...but I have a plethora of 150s ready to load. Intended purpose is a hunt/target rifle. For target I'm thinking 190 smk. Any thoughts?

I had a Winchester model 70 in 300wsm that shot 150gr nosler BT under an inch. I’d say a tikka would more likely shoot better not worse.

Friend of mine uses 150 grain Nosler Partitions in his Remington 700 Sendero 300 WM. Don’t know the twist but it shoots them very very good.. Deer don’t like them at all.

yep should work just fine, just know the faster you send it, the faster it spins and the more RPMs the lighter bullets are subjected to will potentially mean a better chance of "poofing" them.

I use 150 gr NBTs and NABs in my 300 WSM for hunting. Using AA 4350 I'm holding 1/2 MOA out to 500 with them. Not a 300 WinMag but close. Killed a good buck in 2019 with that load recipe and he dropped where he stood.

Side note, the exit on a whitetail at 100 yards is impressive with a 150 BT in a 300wsm. Often half dollar or even bigger.

Used to shoot 150-190 back in my 308 boltgun days across the course. Use a 1 in 11 twist no problems.

The 150 grain .30 caliber bullets have been loaded in many of the .30 caliber cartridges for a long time, well, in this case, since the release of the .300 Winchester Magnum anyway. Loaded ammunition is still commonplace before hunting seasons start. Nearing the end of many hunting seasons though, it's difficult to find the selection available pre-season but it's there.

Bullet construction and velocity will definitely show you which bullet designs work. Ultra high speed velocities can cause jacket failures with some designs.
