Hunter Harassment

Not a single person in that video “did the right thing” including the warden.

Everyone there seemed to have a phone and know how to use it. All someone had to do was call the landowner. End of conflict in less than a minute.

Anyone who hunts private property without knowing exact boundaries and a way to contact the landowner, is asking for a hunt to be ruined someday.

It turns out I worked with the landowners wife for about 10 years, I didn't put 2 and 2 together. I remember some stories about his kid (who wasn't there) and I will find out about the old man....

A smartphone and an app replaces the need for everything else.

They all need an app for common sense and decency.

I think a group of idiots all met and it got recorded.

Probably tons of context missing, lots of moving parts, probably some history.

Public land sucks for hunting and soon private land will to because people.

Are you a democrat? I have NO land now but my Dad did. What BLOWS me away is that people THINK that they are in charge of what happens on that land! I fought for our republic in the '70s for this country but now to hear you'all to trounce on land ownership (that means SO much to our way of life) really beats me down.
I had a demacrat that was not that bad of a guy, he had been to viet-nam and everything but he believed that he owned all land to hunt on. That is simply not the case.
My name is Gary Gore Williams IN

It blows you away that people are in charge of the land they own?

They were on private land as I understand.

I guess I don’t know what you mean.

So…..landowner here from the great state of ND.

There’s a number of things missing in this story that have been spoken of locally. I don’t know if it’s all true or none of it’s true.

Personally I don’t care.

Here’s what IS crappy about this deal.

From my own experience I can guarantee this isn’t the first, second or even tenth time this guy has had to deal with people trespassing.

ND has some of the most lenient trespassing laws there are. In a way I like it because it’s easy to access land in other parts of the state but on the flip side people do whatever the hell they want to do.

I live next to some land we call PLOTS land. Private Land Open To Sportsman

We have our land very clearly posted. Orange permanent signs on all corners. Clearly visible from the road.

We are currently in our deer rifle season and about half way through. Already this season I’ve had to tell 3 different people to get off my land.

And it’s been like this yearly since the neighboring land was put into PLOTS

I’m no longer nice, cordial or friendly when approaching people on my land.

I’m not like this guy was, but I’m not nice.

Why? Because I’m fed up with it.

Usually the same answer is given…..”I’m sorry”. Yep sure you are, everyone is sorry when they’re caught.

I’ve reported the last half dozen people to the warden in the area and thankfully most of them have been cited.

I’m not defending what this guy did, he flew off the handle for sure but I can understand his frustration with entitled people like these guys in the video.

So if everyone is in agreement that they didn't trespass because the hunters were granted permission to hunt the property, but setup in the wrong area, on the property they were given permission to hunt, how is it any of the hunters can be charged with any kind of trespass. That just seems like a real stretch to me.

You’re missing what people are saying.

There are multiple sources that have said these guys were specifically told not to setup where they did. But they did it anyway.

I live not terribly far from where tbis all went down.

It was handled terribly by both parties.

Doesn't matter where they set up, as long as they didn't step foot on his land... The "A" hole could have contacted the land owner and worked something out.. But he probably burned that bridge long ago..
If they were told not to set up there then the land owner should have contacted and intervened.. There are follow up videos where these guys were able to go back and hunt the same land owners property.. So were they really "told" not to set up there?

It seems apparent that the hunters were not trespassing, and the farmer was just annoyed that his favorite hunting location was compromised by their presence. The BEST option for the fuming farmer was to call his neighbor and complain even though they were (apparently) lawfully hunting. If the neighbor had told the hunters to avoid that area, I"m sure that he would have addressed the matter himself.

If I had to assess blame it would be 95% the farmer's fault who was actually engaged in almost 100% of the misconduct and some unlawful "hunter harassment". The hunters have a 5% liability in that they "may" have hunted in a location that was not approved by the property owner. And they offered to move a few feet to placate the crazed farmer who thought that some of the loose grass was touching his property.

You very well may be right, but the only person I've read about that said the hunters were told not to setup there was the corn farmers son.

Read.....as in past tense....yes.

If you're not from the area where it happened you're not going to get the full story.

The kids that took the video were in the wrong.

The farmer was in the wrong.

The guy who gave permission to these kids didn't think it through very well.

It was handled poorly by all parties involved.

The reason you're not "reading" about it is because people don't want to be involved with it and have their name associated with the whole thing.

Don't know anything about this - social media can be be very much off track. I know this, If I warn you off my land it's a one off. Next time it's the train station. That's not keyboard rambo sh$t it's the truth. I don't put up with spot lighters or trespassers and I have had plenty. No sense in calling the law as they ain't doing nothing anyway.
EDIT - Ask the meth heads that decided my drive way was a great place to block with their car and sleep it off. My young daughter had to witness me handle that. I didn't appreciate that. Lines have blurred.

Poorly marked property lines, people willing to hunt the "line"(knowing law enforcement will have a tough time in court with a citation). Phones out(very passive aggressive) hoping for "some evidence". Individuals who have seen the court room become a revolving door for "more serious crimes". Situations like this will become more common(this is intended), the left pushing for zero property rights, anti constitutional RED FLAG LAWS.
