Hunter Harassment

All of the keyboard warriors really need to think hard about how to clam the situation down.

On another note maybe all of us need to work on that. Most of us are on the right/conservative side of life and we should try and spread some grace around.

Words are just that, words.
As soon as physical actions are introduced situations get real in a hurry.

Myself, growing up on a farm, have seen the other side of the story dozens of times. I gets old, having your fences driven through, buildings shot, everyone and their dog thinking that your land is open to them because they are entitled, no hunting signs being shot, fields being torn up, when hunters do a little 4 wheeling. If we were not planning on hunting, when the hunters actually came to the door and asked, we would tell them where we saw the birds and give suggestions, and had several guys that would come every year. I can't even tell you how many times I have been told the, I did not know it was your land, or I had permission, but they had no idea who gave them permission. I can also tell you that if someone gets hurt on your land, if they sue you, which is common these days, even IF you win, you still owe your lier thousands of $$$$.

The farmer in the side by side needs to take some of that $6.00 a bushel corn and spend it on anger management counciling. His wife must be a saint to tolerate his inner emotions In such a rageful personality. He has some real issues that need to be addressed. Definitely would not want to put a firearm in his hands.
When I graduated in 1980, corn was $2.50-$3 a bushel. There is not expense that is not 10X more than it was in 1980 and most are far more than that.

There are two more videos and the state has filed charges on this dumb butt.
For you guys using hunting apps.. Just a quick warning.. They are NOT always right.. Had a bow hunter that I caught hunting next / on my folks land.. He said "here let me show you where the property line is." Opened his app and sure enough app showed he was correct... I was nice and said the line is the creek, and if you want we can see is the judge uses your app or the plat registered at the court house.. It ended all good be he was sure he was right and he was not..
Our place has 20 acres of the neighbors property marked as ours in HuntStand. The county GIS is even wrong. The Plat is not... had dad look it up one day to verify grandpa and his brother weren't taken for a ride. Same story, creek marks the boundary.

Let's see, one man rides up on how many, five "guns?" He immediately starts running his mouth... That guy is a complete dip/ dumb a$$... He could have used some brains and not tried to trigger those boys.. We have stand your ground in SC... Probably not tooo many sheriffs would have pressed charges if they had indeed stood their ground...

Looks to me like they needed a surveyor instead of a judge.

Or a section stake.

In the video the farmer did not conduct himself in a cordial manner. A simple misunderstanding. Should have been initially handled by a call to the Game Warden to sort things out. But an unhinged tirade with an extortion attempt did nothing to help his side of the story.

I saw the video when it came out and the update.
Yes the young fellows were pushing the limits of setting up on the line. However, how many hunters here have never set up on a fence row corner or junction or where a tree and some brush make some cover, and maybe actually lean on the fence?

I have dealt with similar situations in years past myself. One gent asked 10’years prior, then never had the courtesy to ask on a yearly or seasonal basis, once was fore ever, even though the property sold.

The “Nancy’s” son responded, so what. It’s still a he said she said.
If the video was actually heavily edited, I would think that would be with holding evidence and perjury of some sort?

As mentioned above should be a learning experience for ALL that have read this thread.

As I recall, "Hunter Harassment" laws were put on the books to protect legal, law abiding hunters from anti-hunter groups and individuals who began to disturb hunters by disrupting, creating noise, and intentionally spooking game from a area; usually on public land. It is a credit to hunters in general that a lot of these bastards didn't get shot for their "animal protection" techniques. jd

Seems this guy is completely unhinged. "His side of the story" doesn't come with any credence as it is completely hearsay. He is seen on camera hurling insults, swearing, making threats, and extorting them. From the time he walked out of the UTV, he behaved in a criminal manner.

I've dealt with guys like him, even had one of them convince the game warden to ticket ME for "hunter harassment" for taking my ATV down the logging trails on my own property as I did daily weather permitting for years. Nobody ever asked me to delay my ride or anything else. I never knew it upset anyone. But when the warden showed up, I lost it. The game warden came to visit me at work three days later. I wadded up that ticket and threw it at the game warden's face and told him to get off my property before I had him arrested. For some reason the prosecutor never took it to court. People need to learn to chill out.

Wow, shooting someone for talking very loudly. Remind me to stay out of south carolina, ND has stand your ground as well. Too bad they were not on their ground. I'm all done with this. Have fun.

I'm from ND too. Hunter and a landowner. People have cut my fence drove all over my field and cut the fence again when they left. I once caught 8 deer hunters walking down a a half section of crp that was clearly posted. This shiit doesn't end.....

That is why probably 95% of private land is posted. I've have heated conversations too. "You might own the land, but not the wildlife". Same old stupid shiit. The guy in the video may have over reacted, but it takes two to tango.

I own and manage land also. Constant problem with people walking and driving atv's and riding motorcycles. I always use calm when approaching people.. I ask nicely to leave and then if required DNR or sheriff will handle the situation.. I am mostly always armed. Most folks start with some BS and then they know I mean business and they are in the wrong.. Only had one guy blow hot and sheriff had to be called..

I hunted whitetails on a relative's 15,000 acre farm. I scouted the property extensively and I was often the only hunter there. On opening morning of the whitetail season I see a guy walking around in the hollow below me. The guy had a rifle and was just walking around, absolutely ruining my opening day hunt.

I waved my arms around to catch his attention. He finally notices me and walks over. The guy tells me that I'm on his land. I dispute that and reference the permission that I have. He tells me that his property line is about 50 feet back along a walking trail. There are no posted signs anywhere for either property. I ask the guy if he would be good enough to allow me to finish my hunt on that day but he tells me "NO".

I climb down from my stand and move about 100yds up the trail and sit on the ground a bit dejected because I waited so long for this hunt and I was well aware of the buck activity in the area. To my surprise a mature 8 point buck walked into view and was harvested. I went back to the farm where the farmer's son grabbed a tractor and helped me retrieve the deer. When I asked about the exact property line, the farmer said "who could know exactly where the lines are on property this big and who cares". To this day I don't know for sure that I was off the permitted land but at least I avoided an all-out screaming match on opening morning.

Kinda surprised the older guys had nothing to say. I wouldn't let anyone talk to my kids like that, maybe they were told to keep their mouths shut because of the cameras?
