6br issues

Sunday I loaded up 25 rounds and set down to shoot. Gun shot in the low .3's as usual with my load. Shot 3 rounds of 5 when all of sudden groups open up to like 1". When inside clean the rifle still Nothing small then 3/4". What has happen ? Everything tight

Not smart enough to diagnose but I'll share a couple of experiences of mine in a similar situation. In the first one what I thought was a clean barrel was not--not even close. The carbon had accumulated heavy in the first few inches of the barrel. Took a couple of Iosso cleanings to get back shooting.

In the second case with several hundred rounds down the pipe I had lost tune. Took a few tenths more powder and lil longer seating depth to get it back shooting decent.

Couple of things to think about.

Also not smart enough to diagnose but will share an experience. The chamber needs to be clean clean - no left over solvent or case lube. Use a shotgun swab with brake cleaner to get that area clean and then let dry. Make sure your cases are clean as well - again no left over case lube etc

I will also add that my loads are noticeably different with temp and humidity variances. My summer load may require a bump in juice. Not quite as bad as what you explained, but it could easily be a combination of things.

How long has it sat in the safe is another question. I would check my bedding to be sure I didn’t have any solvent soften up a couple spots.

I'm having a hard time getting ALL the Imperial sizing wax off of my brass. I've tried cleaning with a dry towel, cleaning with a little alcohol and even SS pin tumbling. None of these methods seems to remove all the wax. Cases still feel slippery, especially the cases cleaned with 91% alcohol.

Any recommendations?

Shot every day. One thing since mentioned was temps different. It's been hot and humid here in Missouri. Been loading 30.3 N150. may need to back off a couple ticks. Thanks everyone for the responses

I use brake cleaner. I spray some on a rag, wipe after resizing and then wipe each loaded round before heading out. That paired with a clean chamber make a significant difference for me.

Tumble in white rice. Will clean the outside well while leaving carbon in the necks, which you want.

If your cleaning the Imperial off good with a towel, I bet that’s not your problem.

I had been using a dry towel for some time not but it didn't get it all off, so I tried the other ideas which were less effective. I was hoping that there was a simple solution that I overlooked.

I was very surprised that the SS pin tumbler and plenty of Dawn dish soap did not work that well after a 25-30 min tumble.

Was your water HOT when you tumbled? I found it makes a difference with hot water on tumbling and then rinse well with cold water.

Hope this is not your problem but I have been in a match doing well and everything went to crap, after the match bore scoped and had a porchen of a rifling pealed out, like I said hope this is not your problem.
