Searching for 209 Shotgun primers

No Winchester primers, but you can buy 209 Cheddite shotgun 20,000 limit at Ballistics Products , and available locally at Sportsman's warehouse, and Bruno has some non American available also...I did measure some 209 primers awhile back in my modified 308 Win cases to take 209 shotshell primers for fun and subsonic loads tbe Cheddite were slightly smaller in dia.
My primers largest CCI .2435: WIN .2433" CHEDDITE.. .243" Federal the odd man out .2415"
with lots of taper on Federal clear down to .240" most of the way on my sample...loosey goosey in terms of fit... They all start out smaller in diameter about half to a quarter way down and taper up to press fit. for ease of entry into the case.. you will not have any problem with Cheddite compared to Winchester in 209 as far as fitting or enlarging the shotshell primer pocket as they are slightly smaller in diameter, but tbe same size for practical application purposes....but Federal is your primer if you want small dia 209s provided they don't fall out of the case ....if you have loose primer pockets already in your many times fired & reloaded AA hulls and are using Federal 209s ...try one of the other brands. Those are the facts...use what you like...and Winchester is a good primer, just not available. I use them all... and have 4 different brands on hand.

Looks like I'm going to use Cheddites @ 56.00 K. I see why these big vendors have the Winchesters. $95 a K is to rich for me. Thanks to all who replied. LDS.

Cheddite and other European primers are slightly larger in diameter. Once you use them there is no going back to Winchester. Don't know how much shotshell reloading you but you may want to keep those hulls segregated.
