Recently sold a collector European Sako L46 .222 and was using Fedex to ship to a collector in Virgina insured for full value. It went missing/stolen from Stafford County distribution center on 7/22. Fedex told me today that only FFL holder may ship a firearm and they will not honor my claim. Been using them for years, but no more. $1200.00 thrown away. I did file a report with the local sheriff office and they put it in stolen database, but sure it will not appear. Serial 26825 if it shows up here.
Be careful all.

Sorry to hear of your loss . Do hope it turns up , undamaged . Just recently shipped y Kelby action , and new GRS HYBRID blank to Master Craft using U.P.S, . Fully insured ; and Alex sent it back the same way . It just got "Home" on Saturday , in excellent condition from shipping . I've shipped several actions via U.P.S. , and had no issues . Maybe I'e just been lucky . I'll take it .

heard horror stories about them from the LGS to. thanks for the heads up

What a bummer on losing the money and worse, a fine firearm.
I’m going through something similar on a smaller scale. Bought a box of bullets from a guy on LRH. He sent them through the usps priority mail. He did his part. After over a week and doing some tracking, I found out that my post office delivered them to the wrong address a few miles away from me.
Mail carrier claims she has tried contacting those people to no avail. Was told to pursue a claim through the PO website. What a royal PITA ! They don’t make it easy to file a claim, that’s for sure. I’m not holding my breath….
It’s a crime when they sell you insurance and tell you that you’re covered and then basically tell you to pound sand.

FedEx will only ship a firearm for a licensed FFL
Was the package identified as a firearm when you shipped and insured it?

This is why I keep my 03 C&R FFL. If they ask if I am a dealer I can say, why yes, I am..... with a certain finger showing in my pocket.

The following Fedex link states only FFL holders may ship firearms using Fedex.

Can't even get them to refund shipping and insurance charges. Spent a month working on this sending all supporting documents and photos and only today they said they don't accept firearms from individuals, only FFL. When I did shipping documents online nothing was said about contents, only shipper/receiver, size/ weight and insured value. Only last week they wanted proof of value which I sent from auction site where sold. Only today they say it was a firearm and will not pay. My electronics business has used them for years, but no more.

I shipped some product via FED about 2 years ago (during covid). Package went missing and went to file a claim. They stated that as of Feb 2020 they no longer offer reimbursement for missing package. It even stated it on their website. Don't know if that policy is still in effect. This was not a firearm btw.

With you know who running the Fed Gov it'll pay everyone to check your chosen shippers rules/regulations before just packaging it up and dropping it on the shipper. Seems like the Fed Gov has been leaning heavily on the "common carriers" that , in the past, commonly shipped firearms.

Ive been thinking of selling a few Guns on GB but with all the shipping problems, I may trash that idea. I sure wont use Fedex if I do it.

Getting ready to ship a rifle I sold here. I did look at FedEx and it does say only through ffl holders.

Insanity. FedEx willingly took legal possession, AND committed to a contract to honor the insured value in the event of damage/missing/theft. But you're to blame? Because they declare you shall not be allowed to ship, yet they accepted it for shipment?

I'm wondering what the "fine" (read: indecipherably small) print said, regarding their claimed requirement you be an FFL shipper.

I suspect a small claims court would be sympathetic. Contract law and all.

Sorry to hear FedEx is reneging, here. Pitiful.

On the online form there was no classification for that. Early this year I shipped a rifle from the local FedEx and declared as such with no issues as had done it for many years. Shipper beware.
Did you declare it as a firearm?
